2019 Southwest Nationals

I just hope he goes somewhere and learns to pull and score targets before he gets there.

You can bet he’s on your relay dean! Lol

Everybody has to start somewhere! I shot last year on a group W relay and luckily the 2 in the pit system works well for that.

Not whining..I got in...but I know of four people who didn't because they got errors...2 got server error, 1 couldn't enter is credit card info, and 1 got "it isn't your fault, system error, try again...it appears the system couldn't handle 400-500 entries all at the same time...I'm not happy for it, but I won a bet on this matter...luck of the draw I guess, but kinda sucks for those who didn't make it

Dean: what if it was you that got a server error? Even if you were up a hour early...do you really think that the guy who has never shot a match in his life has a right to take your spot in a championship match? Seriously.

I made it into the 600 yard match>>>but only because Scott Harris did it for me. I was CONSTANTLY getting the "Server Error / Not your fault but ours" screen and I gave up and called Scott! Now to be fair, I only wanted in the 600 yard match. But what about those guys who had the "server" problem too?

Didn't make it in last year because of the lack of notice. By time I found out it was too late. I came anyway and went standby for the Friday, Saturday Sunday shoots and made it in. I think it was 8 of us who showed up for the standby placements. We all made it in and they still had 4 open positions.

I was at the 350 shooters left mark when i registered. In the amount of time it took me to start over to get a confirmation and register my shooting partner, he was waitlisted at the 17 min. mark.
Its my opinion, this is one of the premier matches in the CONUS but there a need for something to be done to eliminate what just occurred.
1. Fclass one week, sling the next?
2. NRA master and above to be eligible for the match?
I don’t have an answer, just thoughts as I type. Any constructive input from anyone would be appreciated.
BTW, I’m in no way affiliated with this match or anyone connected to it.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

There will be no stand by positions for the 2019 match.

I made it in. And I can tell you there is a wait list and there are a lot of people on it. They have to sort through everything as I’m sure several people registered more than once or registered for the wrong match.

On the outside this time, unfortunately, after hopeful advance scheduling efforts for 2019 for the family had been successful.

Sure wished the approach had been to break out separate match dates for the three divisions of TR, Open and Sling.

Everyone would get in that way. And they’d fill up, because a good number of us would double enter.

SWN doesn’t measure this stat, but many fclass shooters have Open and TR rigs. If you separated these out, you’d get some guys coming twice a year when they can, to pick up the entry numbers.

I’d rather go twice a year than 0 times.

well, I'm one of those guys that takes things as they come. Had that happened, I would have to said, that's life. Not trying to make anybody mad, some of my friends and shooting buddies didn't make it and I'm sick about it, but that's not going to change a thing. I guess that would have saved me a pocket full of money and the headache of finding a place to stay.

.

Is there a waiting list available to check my position on it?

I made the Mid Range, but on waiting list on Long Range. Living abroad, it would be nice to know if there is any chance to get in the Long Range, before commit to international air ticket, vacations on work, where to reload in US etc.

LRCampos.

That would be great but I can't imagine the good folks that do all the hard work would want 2 weeks of this headache.

Something to consider. Then open it up to fill in the next day. I know I'm the guy that said first come, first served above, but there at shooters that would had a legitimate chance to win not even get a shot, something needs to happen. I do think you should at least have a classification card to enter. But, that's not my call.

Ok the approach you wish for is like socialism, it is great on paper but in reality who is going to do the work. The match is made up of volunteers that take vacation from their day jobs to put this match on. If we were to do this your way we would have no vacation days for ourselves.

As far as I can say if you think you can do it better, do it. There is nothing stopping you from doing it at your home range. Part of the reason we started this match was to encourage others to put on high quality matches across the country.
