Buying / Shipping Question

I want to give a scenario, and need some HELPFUL suggestions


* Guy is selling some bullets

* I PM him and get address, and send a USPS MO (July 2)

* He received USPS MO and shipped bullets (July 6)

* I still haven’t received bullets. USPS say label was tore off, and they didn’t know where the package was headed, or where to send it back to, and it was sent to “Mail Recover Center” (July 16)

* I have filed for lost mail (July 17) and haven’t heard anything yet

* I have also notified the seller, and haven't heard back from him either.


(I don’t need anyone’s opinion on how the USPS Sucks, or how we should of used UPS of FedEx) I know we buy/sell and ship a lot on this site, so I am looking for someone who has had prior experiences, and can give some Helpful advice…..

if they don't know where or who,how did they know the label was torn off,,take an act of congress to tear off one I put on,,this may not be going to a nice place,,

Well that's sorta what I thought...
Lady at my local PO said that when it is labeled as "Dead Mail" and sent to the mail recovery center, it is usually because the label was torn off.

I suspect that is a code phrase for it being pirated out of the mail system. Unfortunately, it does happen....been there...done that...got the 3 inch binder of documents and two years work to prove it.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS put clear tape over the address, return address too.

If you have had this happen.....Did you ever receive package ?

if you didn't get it and the P.O. can't find it ,,then it would all fall back on the shipper for failing to label correctly,,but if they can't find it with no label do you have a tracking
number showing it was shipped in the first place,,

That's exactly what I was thinking. Yes I have tracking #, and it shows he shipped it, then about 4-5 days later was when it was labeled as being sent to mail recovery.

That is why you should always put a packing slip inside the carton because if the label is torn off they will open the carton in order to determine who sent it or who is to receive the package... anything is possible...Good luck...

You are probably right...and if that's the case, then it is, what it is. Although I don't want to be out my money, and NO bullets :-(

No, but I did end up having some remarkably unenjoyable sex with a lot of people I never met

It was an order of checks for my personal checking account. The entire shipment from the printer was stolen out of the Fort Worth Sorting Station, which included my checks. They were sold to a check cashing fraud ring, and well, you can guess the rest.

So how long do i wait before shipper should reimburse me ?
