I reviewed some of my earlier comments in this thread and, after playing with both the 6and 6.5x47L, I think RL-26 may work fine in the Creedmoor. And posts by others seem to back that up.
RL-17 worked very well in the x47L, but I ran into pressure 10% below case capacity. Since the Creedmoor is about another 10% on top of that, the much slower RL-26 should be in the ballpark.
It has been well documented elsewhere, and verified by my own experience, that either RL-17 or 26 will also postpone throat erosion significantly.
Those who live by low ES/SD should stick with H4350, so I can get RL-17/26 when I need it.
: )
So are you saying Reloader 17 can enhance barrel life?
Yes, and so will RL-26. Much of the "total heat content" of the charge is burned well beyond the throat, thereby sparing the throat much of the wear. These are the only two powders available to the U.S. consumer that utilize this technology.
I'm also convinced that the high ES/SD often experienced with RL-17 is a chronograph issue, because I'm not seeing it in vertical spread downrange.
Interesting. So would you say that Viht N550 could also enhance barrel life? It shares some of the same properties as R17 being a high energy double base powder.
This is the best shooting forum on the web . Im a member on a couple more forums , but for precision shooting and reloading this site is tops . Im about to drop my membership on another forum , because the know it all tacticool invasion is occurring. If someone ask a question people on there will try to be little you . This site is way more mature and professional . Kudos to the founders and maintainersGood old Accurateshooter.com. Just logged back in after years away, finding my way back by ordering a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6mm Creedmoor and looking for information on barrel-friendly powders vs. the 4350 family. It looks like Re17 and Re26 will be just the ticket. Most of my shooting will likely be with Sierra 95 TMKs at modest velocities since my local range here in south central New Mexico only goes to 300 yards. I haven't shot a bughole in many years, and look forward to trying again.
I would think Reloder(R) 22 could work ok.
Here is some data we worked up for the Speer 100gr Spitzer BT bullet.

Good luck Jerry.

After reading this I started playing with RL26 on Quickload in my 6mm Creed. It stands head and shoulders above anything else velocity-wise, and at a lower pressure! I guess the temp sensitivity makes it less than the "perfect" powder for this cartridge though. I still have to try a pound of it for myself.

The 6mm Creedmore was on the newest update disc . If you buy Quickload new now, I would make sure he knows you want it in the cartridge selection. He’ll hook you up.Did you add 6 Creedmoor to your quickload program or was it there? My understanding was that it and Superformance powder are missing which is what has kept me from buying it. Would like to make the purchase though.
The new 110 smk is not in QL, and it is tough to emulate that bullet in the program.Would you mind posting a starting load for a 110smk? I don't have QL, but am curious about expected velocity.
I currently use RL17/110gSMK/Hornady brass/BR2. I have a whopping 70 rounds on the barrel.
