RL15 / 140 Nosler load in 6.5 CM

Anybody use this combo? I have tried RL17 with no luck so im trying other powders.
Rifle is a Remington magpul edition 700 22" 5R 1/8 twist. I did a load workup this eve and got good groups at 37 and 37.5 grains which is on the hot side most likely. I plan on getting chrono info tomorrow,im sure there on the slow side.
Edit to add : brass & primers look fine ,no heavy bolt lift so far. If i could get 2600 fps with good groups i would be thrilled.

what speed are you getting with RL15? let us know after you get a chrono.

you might not be getting pressure signs due to the short barrel and the pressure curve of the powder.

what does your brass look like?

Running the 140RDF in my 6.5x47. Looked at rl15, it was ok. Much wider charge node with Power Pro 2000MR and much higher velocity without pressure problems. Awsome combo for long range steel. And I have not seen the temperature sensitivity is worse as reputed, but I'm not shooting groups either.

The alliant PP 2000mr powder is interesting stuff . I fiddled with it in my grendel using heavy bullets ( too slow) . Seems like it has burn rate is in between reloder 15 and reloder16 . I'm tempted to try it with some 130gr in my CM.

IMR 4350 will get you there with good accuracy, RL-15 might also, basically the same burn rate.

Rl26, start around 46gr.work up to 48gr. was the advice I recieved here.
last Friday at range put my first 3 shots into a .23" group. Don't have velocity yet should be above 2800fps with 143eldx.

I'd also give Rl22 a look, using this in wife's 260. It has a lil 20.5 barrel.
Velocity is a bit low @2650 fps.
47 gr W/143eldx
Load shot a 1" group @ 300yrd on same trip to the range.
Conditions were, 90 degrees, clear skies, wind was a lil shifty really had to keep eyes on the flags,constant 5- 7 mph with gusts of 10-12mph.

Edit: this is for a Creedmoor. Are you shooting a 6.5 Competition Match?

My gun loves RL17, but it also did really well with IMR4350. I never went all the way up to max, but 41gns of IMR4350 gave 2680fps and excellent accuracy in my rifle. RL17 gave me the same accuracy but more speed.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think RL15 is like IMR4350, I would hesitate to try and equate loads between the two.

As a side note, this is the first rifle that has shot the same with RL and IMR. Every other rifle, I've had far superior accuracy with IMR powders.

This is definitely a FWIW reply: For one thing, I am new at this reloading. I've worked with this bullet for a bit now. Using Superformance and RL-17. I finally got a couple decent groups (one without the RDF's notorious out of the blue flier). Using 44 gn of SP and using 41.4 of RL-17. COAL was 2.81" and approximately 70/1000s off the lands in my rifle. (Hornady 1XF brass, trimmed to 1.918" and Fed 210 LR primers.) I say approximately because I'm using Hornady's OAL set to measure. So, it is just a reference number, as another person measuring may come up with a different CBOT and corresponding COAL using the tool. I worked up to these charge weights and would not go any higher with either. My MVs were averaging around 2700.

@esp- I'd be curious to know what charge RL-17 you used. AT 40.4 gn RL-17, I felt I was getting there. No joy at 41.0 My RL-17 (41.4) came in nice but the group was straight across 5 rounds in a row. Like a water-line. Or kKinda like a mini steel plate rack . I've never shot a group like that. Most mine are circular in shape or triangular. LOL So am not quite ready to mark this load down in my go-to load list. So, curious as to what you used. Thanx. (Getting ready to move on to H4350 with the bullet, but not yet ready to give up on it using RL-17, which works great with another bullet)

With good accuracy. Its a max load im pretty sure though

H-4350 FOR ME IN MY 6.5 CREED BUT I WENT BACK TO 130GR BULLETS IMO THERE MORE SUITED FOR THIS CARTRIDE !

For the heavy bullets, look no farther than Re26. I run 147 ELDM from my 24-inch Ctiterion at 2725 fps and sub-half-moa accuracy. I could push it a bit more, too, but no reason to. It smucks deer and antelope just fine. I also shot some 140-grain Interlocks with outstanding performance.

Thanx Shiyfire for your info, and in a sense confirm. Noslers loading data doesn't show RL-17, but I read other shooters using Sierra's load data and Hornady's load date when loading the Nosler 140 RDF. So, that's what I did. On Sierra its 42.2 and 42.3 max on their 142 SMK and 140 SMK respectively. Hornady's data lists , as you write, 41.3. I ended up at 41.4. I'll back down a 10th and see what happens. I've good enough MV at 41.4 and a tenth should not make much difference in either MV or Accuracy. But, will put me within the data from both sources. Appreciate your input.
