Changeling said:Hello Mr. Big. There comes a time when what you want and what is attainable cannot be had.
If you want to reach higher velocity in the 6.5 x 47 you will have to open the case up, and I doubt even then!
Your best bet is a larger case designed to reach higher velocities without beating the case to death or blowing up your action. The velocities you have been getting in the 6.5 x 47L is directly in line with what the Lapua engineers designed the case for at HIGH pressures with the latest powder technology.
I don't mean the things I've said to be taken in a disrespectful way whatsoever.
The work you have done and reported has definitely backed up what everyone was actually wondering about the 6.5 x 47L in a factual and honest way.
no disrespect taken at all,,from some things I read I just thought I was missing something,,2750-2775 from 40 grs of powder and a bullet with a .618BC is a pretty good load and accurate,,but in the real world I seem to get better results with the 123 Scenar at 2980 and .530 BC,,
on paper it seems the higher BC bullet even at slower speed would do better at 1,000 and further but that is not what I am seeing,,and at closer than 500 the 123 is more precise by a lot than the 140,,
I wonder if the 123 Scenar and 140 Hybird are both closer to .550 BC than what they are advertised to be??
at any rate I am done with piddling around and just gonna load the 123 Scenar in the cold with 42.7 H4350 and in the heat with 39 RL15 and rock on,,
