No one, I mean no one moly coats like me...

Ws2 (Danzac)is super easy.
There is no such thing as DANZAC. Tungsten Disulfide is WS2. A compound of one Tungsten(W) and two sulphur(S) atoms.

But I agree that WS2 is as easy, with far less drawbacks of MoS2.

It was either conversation with another member or what I read in bulliten on molly coating. Its the sulpher thats corrosive.
Maybe HBNis the way I should go.

Yeah I read all that stuff about moly attracting moisture to stainless steel that came from this MSDS sheet that someone was passing around that was some kind of liquid machine Lube that they said would attract moisture from the air which has Dick to do with moly coated bullets and barrels. I have never had any problem from Molly and I've been doing it 25 years. Maybe it's the way people moly coat their bullets I have no idea but I have never had rust in my barrels I've never had any of these things that you read about on the Internet it's just ridiculous the lies that have been told about moly coating. And every time I post anything about moly coating I have to read 20 different posts from people who say that it's the most evil thing ever invented and they're experts on moly coating. And they tried it this one time and it didn't work and so it must be from the Devil. I find the entire thing pretty laughable. If you don't like moly coating that's great I really don't care. Like I said I've been doing it for more than two decades and some really great shooters like John whidden still use moly to this day, but that never seems to get mentioned that there's guys getting beat by guys that shoot moly coated bullets everyday.

Let me say this about Molly causing oxidation. I have bullets that I moly coated 10 years ago and they still are shiny like brand new and have not oxidized one tiny bit in 10 years! Someone please explain that to me if moly attracts moisture from the air then why aren't all of my bullets covered in Black oxidation? From sitting in the open air! Could someone please explain that to me? All the moly coating experts?

The more I think about it the more I realize that bare bullets attract way more moisture from the air and oxidized sooner than good moly coated bullets. Especially ones that I moly coat that have absolutely no residual powder left on them.

I think that moly coating might be up there with talking to hippies about marijuana when it comes to heads spinning off into Oblivion and people just losing their minds. Hippies will tell you that pot cures cancer because they read it on the internet. I get similar responses from people that tell me what they read on the internet about moly coating.

25 years experience trumps alot of conflicting reports that I've been reading. The pics I've seen posted here look amazing.
It's possible the people who complained of it attracting moisture were doing the dry method. Maybe the wet method aids in a better more uniform finish not letting them oxidize not sure, but I like the results of your method.
Harbor freight here I come, 6 feet deeper in the hole.
Side note, brother in law does dry method, last time we went shootin we both whiped up some ammo to shoot, man his fingers were dirty.

I have been dry moly coating forever and never had any barrel issues and I was a bad person when it came to cleaning. When I recently acquired a bore scope, I was scared to look down some of my barrels, but everything was ok. To help eliminate most of the dirty fingers after coating, I put them in some clean media in the vibrator for 5 minutes or so. Still get a smidge after fingering a hundred rounds.

Wet moly applying will be my next attempt. I can't believe I had never heard about this before until yesterday.

Wet moly coat is a easy 1-2 method for coating bullets. I have a question do you heat up the bullets after to get the water/moly out of the hollow point?

And do you use the bore moly paste as a pre-conditioner for the barrel?

Also how do you store your rifle barrel between sessions?

I got into moly plating (I like it dry) my bullets and I will never go back to naked. I am a firm believer and have never shot longer strings inbetween cleanings then I do now. Even at a 200 round count the barrels clean up the same as with 30 rounds on them. These are varmint, plinking and PRS rifles.

What personal experience do you have with wet Molly to tell some one it is a mistake? No one is asking for other options.
Did I say mistake?? Don't think so. I prefer ws2 due to ease of application and being this an open forum and a free country I have the right to publish that here. Go play forum police somewhere else I'm not entertained.

No, I don't heat but you certainly could. I shake vigorously on paper towels until most of the water is gone. Then I bath in acetone and denatured alcohol to fill the points with fast drying solvent. Then shake again till super shiny as shown.

Bone dry next day.

That was my issue with wet coating a while back was the poimt filling up with wet moly. But i will revisit the acetone and denatured alcohol as a solution

Thanks for answering my question. You have no personal experience with wet Molly. That is what I thought as BS. You may not be entertained but you might learn something. It is an opinion only. That is ok.

All I know is what I have read regarding steps to apply both moly and ws2 and my success with ws2. There are less steps for ws2 which is why I chose it as my preferred coating. Never claimed one to be better than the other. I don't know why you have been so defensive and rude but it's Uncalled for. Have a nice day hassle someone else.
