Which tool would that be? For measuring CBTO? Or has my wife been complaining again?

Yea to duplicate that load youd need his chamber and ctbo measuring tool.
True. And his front rest. And his scope. And his powder lot........aww hell, maybe I could just rent him to come shoot a match or two for me.
I’m just looking to gather info at this point. I don’t even have my rifle yet (hopefully, maybe next week)
When you have no data of your own you have to start with what’s working for others (working up to it, of course)
I have a used Shilen barrel; 1-12 204 Ruger. I can not get it to under 1" at 100 yards with 5 rounds. I've tried 5 powders and two bullets. I had the gunsmith look at it and he says the bore looks rough. I'm done with it. Ordered a new barrel today and will chamber 20 Practical. I'm wondering if buying a used gun is like getting a used dog. I have heard that no one gives away a good dog. How many of you buy your guns used? I think I'm done. Only new from now on and I can break the barrel in with my procedure.
My last three barrels have been new Shilen. I’ve been pretty happy.
You might have started with a new barrel. I bought this one used and have no clue what all it's been through except I can not get it to shoot. I'll start with the new ones from now on.

Nobody ever sells a gun that shoots... or a scope that works. Bought one a long time ago that had 500pcs of fireformed brass (22/243) but only had about 100 rds on it. Told him since some of the brass was loaded twice im guessing 750rds on it. Had no idea what i was gettin at but i never pay for the barrel on a used gun i buy the action and stock never expecting anything from the barrel but to replace it
That is a good choice.

In reading through this thread it has just reinforced my belief that EVERY barrel is unique and may or may not like your previously established load, seating depth and or components. Good thing I enjoy going through the process
