I was planning on having the bracket kits made and ready for sale. You can make the rest of the parts from Lowes and True Value. USing the drawings and pics you can make your own very easily.
Very nice- well done

See earlier photo of mine. I bought 3 pipe couplers, and three 1/4" pieces of 4x4 mild steel from an ironworks. Took them to an ornamental iron shop. He cut the couplers to my specified angle, using an ancient chop saw, then welded them to the plates and drilled the bolt holes. I recall the labor ran $40.

the advantage of belonging to a "metal" club...labor on my three was $10!

I have one built just like that except mine is all aluminum- the plate, couplings and legs. got the idea from mickey coleman in about 1997 seeing his. I need to make my top a little more rigid its only one layer.

My Wife and I built one using a piece of 3/4 inch thick packing plywood and 3 pieces of 1 1/2 galvanized pipe for the legs. It turned out rock solid, the plywood was free and the pipe cut and threaded was 26 dollars and some odd cents. It works great for carrying in the field.

On this ranch there is no driving on the grass so the benches & gear are carried in by hand and set up on a high hill to shoot dogs on the next hill. Shooting starts at about 1100 out to 1 mile plus as we have to shoot over the power lines between the hills. Longest dog that I know of shot off the top of the home made bench is 1780.

yes, but "pistol" shooters, not rifle shooters.
( notice the one in the back is setup backwards to shoot pistol off of)

wow i am pretty sure i could build 4 for that price.
gotta have some deeeep pockets.
yes it does look good
I bought this a portable bench last year and really like it. Light weight, easy to carry(cutouts for grip), easy to set up, solid and doesn't move, lies flat when packing in a vehicle. Extremely well designed and well built for those that don't want to build one.

Yours is better for sure than (Retarded s)

I use 1.25" black threaded pipe sleeves...cut @ 15* angle & weld to 4x4" plate as shown

legs 30-31" long...add PVC caps on bottom

table top of your choice.....2 pcs 3/4" plywood for me......24x38"

I bought a 4'x4' sheet of 3/4" plywood at H.D., split that into two halves, so 24"x48" blank after doubling. Wanted the table a lot shorter for stiffness, so I settled on 24"x36", but the next one will be a few inches longer, as I'm cramped with an R700.

My legs are only 1-1/8", might try 1-1/4" but don't know if it'll be noticeably stiffer. How thick are your 4x4 plates? I used 1/4" there.

nearly every benchrest table is three leg design.
the third leg on mine is directly under the rear bag.
2" pipe...very stable.

yes you probably can, BUT you miss the design stability of a 4 leg table over the rather non stability 3 leg type,

With 4 legs on uneven ground, you either have adjustable-length leg(s), or you adjust the ground by "digging in" the legs. You have to fuss with it. Nothing beats three legs for fuss-free instant stability, but the legs need to be stiff, and angled properly.

I am with the 4 leg boys. make them adjustable and they will be far steadier and stronger than 3.
and you still have to have adjustable legs on the tripod - anyway I do, cause you don't know how much up or down you be shooting. BTDT and learned a better way.

I have a bench that has the option of either three or four legs. One of the legs is adjustable. There are three threaded leg sockets on a single quarter inch steel plate at the back of the bench. all angled. Comparing four to three, the three can be more easily dragged around to a different heading, but four legs, with the rock taken out with the adjustable one is more stable. I built mine to shoot off of left handed, although with a little creativity it can be used right handed. The shape of the top is, as far as I know unique. It is configured so that the side of the bench does not make contact with my body, to eliminate that source of movement.
