For those that are practicing up for the 2000 yard match in Mt. , what group sizes are ya getting and at what distances? Troy
humbling humbled but it will be fun wish I was shootingIf the weather cooperates next week I’m gonna try a couple of groups at 1600 with my 300 ultra and go from there. We mostly shoot steel at those distances and never tried a 5 shot group. Should be interesting or humbling, not sure which!! Probably both.....
And here I am just hoping for all shots on paper and not killing the neighbors cows....If I had to guess, if you could keep 5 around 10" at 2k Id say you would be tough to beat. And anything under 20" would have to be competitive.
Haha, get good on your home range, then travel 1500 miles to shoot in the opposite direction in totally diff terrain with way diff wind patterns. A 1mph full value wind change is 20". A slight gust of wind you did not detect is 10 feet.Yup, my group was humbling at 1500 yards. It was the first 5 shot group I ever tried at that distance , I have work to do for sure.
I hope it didn't sound like I am either, even though I've done my share of shooting to 2K+Yup, im no pro but I’m gonna practice all I can. Im hoping to learn something and have fun.
Did I just read you shot 4 into 7" and dropped one 10" low at 1500yds and you're MAKING APOLOGIES for it???Didn’t take that way at all, I just know there are many that will be way better than me at the 1k and 2k match( I have never shot a 1000 or 2000 match so they will be pros to me). My group had 4 shots hovering around 7 inches but one went low and took it to 17 inches overall. Work in progress I guess!
Lol well yea I guess it sounds like it. I’m figuring I need to shoot at least 1 Moa or better, but at 500 more yards I will be glad just to put em all on paper!! All new territory for me but gonna be funDid I just read you shot 4 into 7" and dropped one 10" low at 1500yds and you're MAKING APOLOGIES for it???
I will be very pleased if I can pull off 15 inches at 2k. And I’m not shooting a dasher15.1" (.72-MOA) for 5-shots the one time I shot at 2000yds.
