Ladder or OCW for 100/200 load with new powder and caliber

I covered about the same range of charge (1.2gr) and seating depth (jam to jam - 0.015), just in bigger increments than you (0.6gr on powder, 0.005 on seating depth). My 30BRs haven't been too fussy, and of course I can always fiddle around in finer increments within the desired range once the coarse tuning has been done.

What I posted is just what I’m use to seeing and looking at. Hopefully in one of my rows the gun will give me three decent groups in a row. So a string that the group in the middle is killer and the group before and after are decent. That’s what I’m looking for.

This is what the targets look like using the method described in Boyer's book, and by Bart (above). 30BR, 100yd, 3-shot groups, H4198 33.5-34.1-34.7gr, jam=1.737 on the Wilson seater stem, touch=1.754.

Two questions.

jam=1.737 on the Wilson seater stem, touch=1.754 So, your hard jam was 17 thou past touch?

And what load would you chose from that target? 34.7 halfway between 1.747 and 1.752?

Ok, very cool. But it appears you already had found the nodes before hand, right?

Nope. First trip to the range with this rifle, and my first 30BR.

If you're shooting any of the well-known accuracy cartridges there's no need to reinvent the wheel. Just use the components that the winners are shooting.

there is a big difference in "developing" a load and shooting a known cartridge.
30br is pretty well known , so you work from known data and tune for your rifle and conditions.
some times following the leader is ok.

So, it still appears that a ladder or OCW for charge weight is still going to have to happen to find the charge weight nodes. Then a final fine tuning with the matrix once the nodes are found. Charge weight nodes being an unknown.
