Warning for Ohio shooters (read this)

So now ANY semi-automatic firearm with 10 round capacity (or greater) is being defined as an "assault weapon". Everyone should realize this bill would include [and make illegal] a very large number of handguns. This alone should reveal how the gun grabbers are yet again trying to disguise their true motives as something else.

Having repeatedly been defeated in their more open efforts to remove any type of firearms from the hands of American citizens, they have been forced to constantly attempt to nibble away at the edges, hoping to establish a new more favorable baseline, from whence they can continue to nibble further, ultimately achieving their stated goal of a gun-free America.

Don't be deceived, misled, shamed, or browbeaten into believing their ultimate intention is anything less than removal of every single firearm from the hands of American citizens. Once they achieve that goal, your days as a free citizen with input into your own governance are over. Don't believe for a second that this couldn't happen, there are examples of how individual freedoms are being trampled or simply disappearing regularly under the guise of "progressive" policies, more honestly known as socialist and liberal policy. That is exactly why the 2nd Amendment was wisely included within the Bill or Rights.

And according to the text the way I understand it, any "FIREARM" that "CAN ACCEPT" a magazine that will allow the weapon to hold 10 rounds or more would be illegal. That could also include a chambered round plus the magazine. They would probably say that even though you only have a 5 round mag, it "CAN ACCEPT" a larger one so that makes it illegal anyway and we are all instant felons overnight. Or else just hand in thousands of dollars worth of your personal property. Of course they would destroy some on the news but you can be sure a lot would be sold and the money pocketed. About the only handgun that would be legal is a revolver and it wouldn't take them long to go after them too. I really don't think there is anything to worry about but it's definitely something to watch.

I would like to hear it. I don't know what happened there but I'm pretty sure it's not the main stream media's story. Too many things just don't add up. The same with 911. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but still 2+2 should equal 4!
You guys in Ohio better fight w all you have..The politicians, roll these things out in waves.."Just move over a little guys"...The first wave was a ban on military style semi-auto's...just an annoyance mostly, we could still purchase pre-ban rifles..Then after sandy hook..The big registration & magazine ban was rolled out..real PIA..Guys taking time off from work to stand in line.. only one place in the entire state to register if you failed to file your paperwork by the cut off date..I found a few high capacity mags after filing & went down there to register those..Total CLSRTFK..even the cops thought it was BS..But after all that reports have it maybe 50% compliance ? Now all rifles & handguns are limited to ten rds or less..I have to move before this state gets any more stupid...Mike in Ct

In New York, if the rifle will accept a removable magazine, you are only allowed One Point, where a point equals things like, a threaded muzzle, a thumbhole or pistol grip stock (for firing single handed) a bayonet lug, do in close and dirty, etc. You can most anything with a New York Approved black gun, which has an internal magazine, that accepts up to 10 rounds, but has to be loaded through the open receiver. So maybe the answer is, if you need more than 10 rounds, have a few at hand.

That's what they are asking for, if they realize it or not. They keep it up and they will get it.

Read a statistic that there are 300 police officers per 100,000 people. They just don't have the man power for a gun grab. That's if the police officers would even comply. I know some would but I also know a lot wouldn't!
What you fail to realize is they are not going to show up with pistols and shotguns! They have access to tanks and assault vehicles.

That may be true, but how many of the cops, like the one at the school shooting, are going to refuse to do their job? I assume there are plenty that will hand over their guns, but plenty more that will not. For some, I think confiscation is the red line that will not be crossed. After a few cops or whomever is sent out to collect guns are killed, I think their ranks will diminish rapidly, as well as our society as we know it.

Yeah well if any of the police acted like the deputy in Florida you have nothing to worry about.

Also last time I checked Afghans who can’t read or write have been doing a pretty good job destroying our assault vehicles. When you’re the little guy you’re stronger than you think.

Keep in mind that since 1968, every gun legally bought from an FFL has a 4473 attached to it as well as an entry into the Bound Book or equivalent dealer contained data base.

I think the news is too divisive. I don’t think Americans would do that to each other. I have more faith in ourselves than that. We might seem broken, but our society is doing ok.

Plus there are smarter ways of fighting. Use the law, vote people in with your ideals, support the industry, support the forum, be a leader and get friends and family involved in shooting, take away the stigma of the “scary gun,” boycott companies who don’t care about your rights. You can sway people in other ways.

Plus most cops I’ve met have the same values as us, and are gun guys. I’m sure that asshole, Israel is the minority of how cops think and act.

I agree we need to do a better job of showing our Good Face to the non-gun owner public. Just saying we have the right to own guns is not cutting it with public opinion, as legal as that is. I believe in Responsible Gun Ownership and have convinced most of my left leaning friend in New York City (the Majority) that we ain't so bad.

I’ve had friends who were literally scared of guns. I showed them my firearms or took them shooting and their eyes got wide. They had a blast. Did I change their views? Probably not, but did I show them that firearms aren’t this evil destructive object? Yes, they probably have a little bit more critical thinking on the issue now then before.

And then there are the (tens or hundreds of) millions of legal firearm transactions that never went through an FFL. Not to mention the unserialized firearms made by individuals -- even by people with zero firearms knowledge or interest. And then there is the FOPA prohibition on creation of new federal or state databases of firearms owners via the 4473. Of course, if you live in a locality that already had a registration scheme in place in 1986, you're screwed.

We should actively pursue honest news reporting from our media, I believe media outlet the ones holding the trump card in everything going on these days. The only stories we see are the ones that are in the interest of ratings and media agenda, we need to become the louder voice. Not the republicans, democrats or NRA but the people. Unfortunately they seem to be smarter than us, they knew if they could get patriotism and god out of our schools what would follow. The saturation of different cultures is difficult and destined for failure without concession. America was founded on a common morals and beliefs. No longer do the ones wishing to enjoy the freedoms, that many of lives have earned over centuries, have to give up contrary cultures to be a part of our great nation. We have NFL mentors to our children, whether they accept that or not, but are due to their profession that disrespect this nation for their cause, while being protected by the very ones they are disrespecting. We have TV and Movie stars in front of our children with no morals or common decency and we allow this! Our children are exposed to video games that are so realistic that they desensitize and narrow the gap between reality and imagination. Seeing blood gushing from wounds that bodies being completely mutilated becomes natural. We remove the very events in history that made us who we are in order to stop beliefs. Our children have for the most part no clue of what the civil war was truly about! Our politicians know that as long as they keep us hating each other whether it be associated with race, livelihood, hobbies, beliefs or otherwise we are distracted from the real agenda. I make it a practice when I read ridiculous and malice articles I search for the writers contact page or info, since yahoo and google and the like remove the ability for comments. I write to them and tell them I am not a fan of their platforms, I just wonder what would happen if everyone on this site did the same? They need fans!, and if we become the louder voice, what then? Just a 10 cent thought for free!

I assume you guys saw that it has surfaced that the Resource officer/Sheriff's deputy was armed and on the scene but did not go inside to stop the shooter? Once his actions, or lack thereof, surfaced he resigned/retired. That should take some of the wind out of their sails.

The Government has failed yet again. Law enforcement had been warned this was eminent and did nothing. Now, law enforcement had a chance to limit the carnage and did nothing. How can they ever justify trying to limit our legal rights when history has proven the government is so inept at protecting the public?
I wonder though just how many retired LEO's and X Mil. would charge in alone against semi auto fire. At least they should have a fire power advantage including gas and machine pistols, radio's and others to help.

Laws like this treat the symptoms, rather than the disease. Someone hellbent on killing a "mass" of people can find any number of means to do it. More mass carnage can be wreaked with a couple of 50 cent Molotov cocktails than with an AR. Fence in a school with a single entrance, and you concentrate kids at the bottlenecked entrance. Bandaids only help until a new wound is exposed. Until we reverse the degradation of our society only the means used by evil will change, while evil evolves.

Personally I think the fabric of society is quite thin. Just look at the people on the left in Berkely that were ready to beat up people they disagree with, torch buildings, torch cars. Locally we have one good sheriff out of 3 counties, the other two are anti-gun, even though was is a "republican". Then factor in the corruption in the local law enforcement, maybe it is only here, but I doubt it.
I think you must not live in a place populated by liberals, they HATE us. They will never see our way. And, some of them are gun owners, they just don't understand their own people will take theirs away too. I live in a place with a very vocal liberal population, there were two articles in the paper this week about raising taxes. They have been trying to get the ONLY local shooting range shut down for years. They have succeeded in keeping hunters off of publicly owned lands. You don't dare park a vehicle at a trailhead with a conservative sticker of any kind on it, unless you want to have your car vandalized. They have organized people to interfere with mountain goat hunts. It goes on and on.
I have unfriended several people on Facebook in the last 6 months, people that I considered friends would post threads threatening conservatives and I would ask if they meant me too. They would reply with insults. The left is unhinged, their hatred for anyone that does not agree with them is visible. There is no common ground with them, its like muslims. You will not win them over, not in any meaningful percentage. This latest push for gun control is strong, but it will pass. It is incredibly fortunate for us that we still hold the house, senate and presidency, not that any of them are all that great, but can you imagine if the old hag was president?

Jesus man. Colorado is that bad? The southeast isn’t that bad. Why are people so mean to each other. We are all god damn Americans here.

To build on this post, I will pose this question.
If it was your child in that school, would you enter the building and do everything possible to stop the shooter from causing further harm if you were armed in a simular fashion to the deputy?
Secondly, how many of the folks that have posted here have ever had active shooter training? In the county that this occurred is, I would bet it was in the deputies training curriculum.
In an active shooter incident, the shooter only has a plan "A". Anyone or anything that disrupts that plan generally causes the incident to end one of three ways.
1. The shooter is killed or neutralized.
2. They kill themselves.
3. They give up.
It has been proven time and again the worst thing to do in this scenario is nothing.

If it were a child of mine of course I would go in. I probably would anyway if I had been there. In a forceable but not suicidal manner. With me fear is overcome with uncontrollable anger. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes it makes me do stupid things that I regret later. In a case like that, I wouldn't be taking prisoners!
