Will a 6 br feed from a magazine?

Here's a question for you guys, then. Would a controlled round feed action like a Winchester Model 70 be easier to get to feed a BR case? It seems like there would be fewer hang ups when it comes to ejection, but you would still have the magazine issue to get around.

for years I ran a short action cartridge (243) on a long action, my gunsmith just put a spacer in the back of the mag well and riveted it in place, fed great. still have it (the altered magwell).
Can't see why some talented machinist type, (you listening Boltfluter) couldn't have some of these mags made up so guys like me could run a br in a AICS mag setup with no issues. Heck I'd do it just to watch those cases flop around and fall out like drunk chicks on a mechanical bull! (priceless)

Thanks for the pic John. Idahoorian, working on an AI mag for my .22BR as we speak. ;D Will keep you guys posted. Great thread. 8)

i have a Remmy 308 5r that i'm turning into a 6 br and making a new stock for. I'm wondering if it's worth trying to add the detachable mag feature to the build. I did a search, here, and read about the aics working but not a lot of detail.
Install a sako extractor timed the way you would for a fireball/vartarg and use the single feed ai mag. The dual feeds jam up sometimes on the 3rd shot(2nd shot if you fed the first one from the magazine).

I chambered several F/N SPR rifles in 6BR when the actions were readily available they work great if you set the mag up right, leave them the mag the way Winchester built them and the last round out of the magazine will never go into the chamber.
Extraction is flawless with that claw extractor the case won't fall off till the mechanical ejector knocks it off. They are the safest most reliable rifles in the world, they'll shoot too!!

I have a tikka 595 that feeds from a 22.250 mag
It has the factory spacer at the rear
Using 100gr pro hunters and 105 gr Amax
Both seated off the doughnut area

Now that's a dandy piece of info. I have a Tikka 595 master Sporter in 22-250. Here comes another project. This one sounds easy, too. New barrel.

A friend of mine named A.J. has modified the aics mags to work with any rifle that uses those mags
to 100% reliably feed the BR. His modification is ingenious and simple. (kinda). He is in the process of getting
them on the market. 4 of us out here are running them in some Tactical matches with 100% success.

Is it a U shaped piece of sheet metal that clips on the top front of the mag? I'm working on that design.

I'm really just getting started. Gonna shoot my second 50 round range session tomorrow. I'm using Hornady 105s, jammed .015 into MY lands. Got a pretty good group, last time out. Also my first time out with my new rig, but it's looking good so far. Mine are 1.827 to the ogive.

I have a 6br repeater I built on a 700 sa and it functions very well.
AICS mags and a PTG bolt with a sako extractor. Think I clipped a coil or two off the ejector sping, as well. Half inch spacer added to the front of the mag and beveled in such a way that it only blocks the four rounds at the bottom.

Cases flop around like a drunk chick on a mechanical bull as soon as they're free from the feed lips, but they always end up in the chamber. My rifle wasn't happy until I added the spacer to the mag.

Loading the mag quickly takes a bit of practice.

I understand that the Sako extractor releases cartridge at a different angle than Remington. Is that what you found and is it the Sako that keeps cartridge from jumping out of action?

I can't claim to have paid much attention the difference in ejection angle between the Remington style and the Sako.

I was simply looking for an easily available alternative that would get a more positive grip on the case. I had tried the Bryant conversion before I knew it was a thing with mixed results. My bolt body is an off the shelf PTG.

Any update?

I don't have any experience with them. I was just thinking out loud lol. It looks like the magazine oal is 2.33 to 2.34".

I was, and still am, tinkering with trying to feed with internal and external mags on 6br and 22br. Out of curiosity, I put several rounds in Howa 1500 25-06 and they fed fine. Long action-doable in pinch but...well...long action? Hoping someone with experience with this will chime in about using a short action Howa converted to 6br...?
