Will a 6 br feed from a magazine?

I think the dasher feed a little better since the shoulder is blown out, makes it just a touch longer.

Technically a Dasher should feed worse due to the straighter body and the 40 degree shoulder. OAL is the same.

The problem i have with brs is that when the shoulder would contact the action out of the chamber it would be a big enough angle to let the case fall off the extractor. The dasher doesn't seem to have that problem. I guess the best would be a BRX.

So you're saying that the dasher feeds better from a hinged floor plate than the 6br?

No, I've never tried a hinged floor plate. I use a PT&G DBM that works in the standard BDL inlet. So it's a single stack AI mag.

I;m building a 6br as well right now. I decided to do detachable bottom metal that fits accuracy international mags. Kicker is I bought a "Bob Sled" to use. it's a single shot block that slips right into the bottom metal and makes a perfect single shot out of a repeater action. They make them for AR15s too, I love em.. I am going to give it a shot with a mag too, BUT I got the bobsled to use if it doesnt work out, and I found single shot to really not be a big hassle with feild a long range rifles. just insurance if the mag gives you problems as long as you have bottom metal to fit AI mags heres a back up plan..

I've spoke to a couple reliable local gunsmiths and neither of them gave me a warm fuzzy about feeding a br case reliably. I know some have done it but I wanted to build a gun to play the tactical games with and really wanted a brx or dasher. With the feedback they gave me I ended up with a 6slr.

Good luck...I know it has been done but the reliability factor to play that game was what soured me on the attempt.

For the tactical matches i wouldn't want anything I had to make brass for, you lose to many. But I think when Shiraz comes out with his dasher brass you'll start seeing a lot of Dashers.

I have a 6br repeater I built on a 700 sa and it functions very well.
AICS mags and a PTG bolt with a sako extractor. Think I clipped a coil or two off the ejector sping, as well. Half inch spacer added to the front of the mag and beveled in such a way that it only blocks the four rounds at the bottom.

Cases flop around like a drunk chick on a mechanical bull as soon as they're free from the feed lips, but they always end up in the chamber. My rifle wasn't happy until I added the spacer to the mag.

Loading the mag quickly takes a bit of practice.

Hoier, how close is the spring to where you cut the follower. I bet it's a lot easier to load than mine, with the spacer in front.

The spring is a mess, it's all just wadded up in there. the tricky part is the spring goes all the way from the front to the back.

I read, somewhere, that you are supposed to use a 223 spring, but that's what triggered my initial post. The info was spotty at best. On the bolt/extractor subject: I see Pt&g offers a sako extractor kit for a 700 bolt. Is that adequate? Is it a drop in or does it need an alteration of the bolt? Tight tolerance metal work falls outside of my woodworking skills. Would I be better served just buying a bolt? Thanks for the pics, in any event. Josh.

Have PTG make you a bolt that takes the mini m16 extractor as it is pinned and safer should you have a blown cartridge.
