Never say you’ve seen it all

I’m an automotive service advisor by trade. We see all kinds of crazy stuff. Today was an interesting “first”.

Customer said his right rear tire was losing air. We get the car in the shop and a while later the tech comes back with the cause of the leak. I’m expecting the usual nail, screw or other common road debris. Nope, not this time.

Ive been an auto tech for 19 years. I once had a tire with a bb gun C02 cartridge poked through it. That was probly 14 yr ago and I still dont know how they did it.

I had a tire go flat real fast on a highway in Wyoming on my Honda Civic years ago. When we got to tire shop the tire repair guy found a piece of 223 brass stuck thru it. We figure it was standing on headstamp (front tire) and I hit it and forced into tire. It was in tire right up to extractor groove. There was a prairie dog town right beside highway where I hit it. Tire guy said he hadn't seen before and tire was beyond repair. Sold him the tire for his wall of shame as he made me a good deal on a new one. Bullet was probably laying on road and things were just right in the universe for it to end up in tire... At least we would hope thats what happened.

no other holes in the car that wernt supposed to be there?

A local accidentally discharged a rifle in the cab of his new truck.. He took it back to the dealership and told them that his transmission was shot. Lol
They thought it was so damn funny that they replaced it!!

A little bit different, but my daughter lives in Bethesda, Maryland. Her house was built about 7 years ago. One day she sent me a text with a photo of a spent bullet she had found laying next to her house in her flowers. She was panicked, thinking it was from a drive-by, but she lives in a fairly exclusive neighborhood.
The picture appeared to be of a .30-caliber jacketed bullet showing considerable oxidation and one side of the nose flattened. I told her it probably came from the "fill" used while building the house. I'm guessing it came from a pile of dirt that had been used as a backstop at one point. Since then she has found several more that keep working their way up through the soil in places all around the foundation. Sure had her worried though.

Never a bullet,, but back in my automotive days... Forks, spoons, wrenches, bones ( from roadkill I assume) , WHEEL WEIGHTS, (That was ironic)
plenty of keys, and little shards of plastic or steel ..

In the late 50s my Grandpa bought a new set of tires for his pickup from the Montgomery Ward tire store which was a big deal for a farmer in those days. He didn't make it two blocks away on his new tires. He ran over a chicken bone and got a puncture, boy he was mad.

Every time we watch a chase scene on a "cop show", my Wife says "Shoot the tires, you idiots". Seems somebody finally listened.;)

Many cars have plastic gas tanks ...we had a customer come in that had run over a porcupine.
There were quills stuck into the plastic tank ...none had penetrated enough to replace the tank
but I thought about how tuff those quills are for sure. LOL.:D
