I measure bullet base to ogive, BBTO, for my 142 SMK's. The older lot measured about .791. A newer lot measured .754. I decided to maintain the cartridge base to ogive, CBTO, measurement at 2.233 which had worked well with the longer BBTO. It surprised me that I only had increase my seating die .005 to get the same CBTO with the shorter bullet. At the range both the bullet with the longer and shorter BBTO shot about the same. It's a stretch but I would say that CBTO and the resulting distance to the lands is of much greater importance than the BBTO.What tolerance do you all sort to when sorting Base to Ogive? +-.001, +-.002, max of .005, max of .010 etc.? Thanks all, Brian.
