Ring height for 56mm objective scope

What height rings would I need for a 8-32x56 scope for the Ken Farrell bases? Barrel is varmint taper #7 or 8 taper?

I run both Talley and EGW bases on my Savages and use Talley medium tactical rings. Clearance is no problem on my bull barrels with a 56mm...

I've got medium rings, (TPS) for a 50mm scope and I would almost bet I have 3/8" of clearance.

Depends on the action but Farrell pic. bases are a bit taller than usual. If you want an accurate answer without all of us guessing tell us action model and ring model you're looking at, more than likely someone knows. Also base cant if it is not 0.

There is some type of formula for this, way over my empty head. I'm never a pioneer on buying anything, so I just ask guys who have the same setups.

Savage PTA, 1.250 barrel, EGW 20 MOA Rail, Nightforce 56 Objective.
Burris "High" Signature Rings, #420587, just fits perfect, with minimal Clearence of Sunshade, and Bolt.

I feel your pain...I have tried over the years to simplify doing this task..I use Weaver style slotted one piece base either straight or ten moa. added..I keep a set of Med, High & extra High Burris Sig.Z style rings w/ inserts for the job..After I find the best fit. I reorder the one I used.. Not a lot of help on doing it right the first time, sorry bud..If you want the very best [lowest] fit they are that close...Mike in Ct

I used .875 NF rings with my 56mm bell (NF NXS). Plenty of clearance on my heavy varmint profile barrels.

All my scopes are 56mm, I run low ARC rings on all but one, it is medium.
I shoot mostly 50s and either Leupold Mark 4 or sightron 50s. They all require medium with a varmint/sendero weight barrel on Remington footprint actions. Cannot speak of other actions or barrel contours. I'd imagine lighter barrels may be a different situation. After reading some different setups above, it appears each has there own perfect set ups. If I replaced any of my 50 mm scopes with a 56mm, I'd have to use high rings for sure.

There is not really a industry standard on ring heights, confuses things also.

NF ^^^ ARC^^^^

284 winner puts it best...The action footprint...How quickly I forget every Sako & CZ action & Diff.barrel wt..I have to deal with..It is so much easier dealing with the devil you know..Rem Win Savage .The last was a mini-mauser CZ 527..It took 3 try's with various rings/bases to end up with Leupold rings to fit that special headache correctly..Truth be told, I'm still not happy with that set up either...Mike in Ct

Did you try Talley's? I used them on one of their rimfires.
