Lyman Borecam

Lapua40X

California Hunter Education Instructor
I've seen some images taken with this device which are much clearer than any image I'm able to get on the screen of my Borecam. Wondering if anyone else has trouble with getting a clear image on their screen. The focal length on my Borecam is so short that I almost have to have the end of the probe in direct contact with the surface I'm examining to get an image I can use.

I remember reading somewhere that someone was cleaning their lens, and it popped right out/came out, but don't remember where I read it or any details.

I've got one and could see the pitting and tool marks very easily in the then brand new/no shots down the barrel savage rifles, was eye opening to say the least.

I have one and have not noticed any significant challenge getting a sharp image. As others have suggested, check for dirt/oil on the optical surfaces. If you find nothing there, I'd look into returning it.

They included cleaning materials in the box.

The lens is plastic, so if some copper solvent has gotten on it, it may be frosted. I use Windex and a bore patch folded in half, the Qtips that Lyman provided don't seem to really get down into the lens very well

Yes, I think you just need to clean the lens. Mine shows me way more than I ever wanted to know on a couple of older factory barrels, but is a wonderful tool when checking your cleaning regiment.
