The Dasher 100 Yard Challenge

Not a dasher, but a customer sent me a picture of this 100 yard target fireforming a 6BRA, no wind flags, 5 shots each, agg was in the .2s

Alex,

Tell your customer great shooting!

The 6BRA is accurate and not finicky! A very nice combination. I've only had one barrel chambered in 6BRA (1-8 Brux), and it's a shooter. Possibly the best long range barrel I currently have. It's the only cartridge I've seen that has the potential accuracy of the Grinch! James Ohara has shot some incredible groups at 100 yards with the 6BRA. No doubt it can shoot.

But so far the Grinch is the only cartridge Ive seen that can hang with the 6PPC. It has shot teen aggs at 100 yards and has won registered Benchrest matches.

Bart,
Have you shot your bra at 100 yards? If so how did it shoot?

I've not shot the 6BRA much. Just some tuning here at the house and a 600 yard match at St Louis. Pretty rough conditions I came in 3rd in the 2 Gun and picked up 10 SOY points. The smallest group at 600 I shot that weekend was a 1.395.

Honestly the barrel started off shooting like crap! It was 30 inches long! I had Billy cut it off a couple of inches and Thread it for an Ezell tuner. I put it back on the gun and it's been a model citizen ever since. I was tuning it at 200 yards trying to get it dialed in. The picture is 3 groups of 3 shots at 200 yards with my 105 Gungnirs! I took it out to 500 yards and it would shoot .800 5 shot groups! So I don't know what brought it to life! If it was cutting off the barrel, the Ezell tuner, or the new bullets! Or the whole combination! But it will Flat hammer!

That's some fine shooting Bart! I guess I need to try some of your new 105s! Thanks for the answer and posting pictures.

Dino and Travis....Finally got y'all on board of a br improved...how long did it take? ;) I am not convinced it's any better than a dasher or brx but time will tell...I'll be one of those hardheaded guys that might as well be from Missouri (you have to show me :D).

I get asked which one I think it more accurate between the brx and dasher...my response is always "Whichever one has the best barrel". I suspect I'd say the same thing if I added a bra to the mix. I've never had an issue forming brass or tuning for those so that argument is a non-issue for me.

Good luck guys....glad to see you over to the darkside. Next thing I know you'll be building 7mm's for the 400/600 yard stuff. I'm just about ready to debut the 284.

Nice shooting Dino!

7mm?? I'll NEVER be that crazy...

Mine's not a BRA, BTW. I'll have to show you at the August Shatterblast 400. Assuming I'll find time to work up a load for it between now and then...

I got a flyer forwarded to me this weekend that TacPro is having a 400y clay match Saturday. I might have to go see if the 284 is as ready as I think it might be...didn't know if you all knew or had heard but if you want the flyer just holler and I'll email it to you.

Doesn't have to be a bra...just needs to be improved, speed does matter :D

This is not a new cartridge. Locals here have been shooting it for 5 years.

I would bet money the BRA goes back longer than the dasher. About every case out there gets Ackley Improved as soon as it comes out. Wouldnt be surprised if someone did it 30 years ago.

Everything has been Ackleyed. I'd be surprised if it hadn't been done the first year Remington introduced the 6BR.

Remember seeing a 6BRA reamer in Jerry Simison's reamer drawer in 2004. He had built a couple PD hunting rifles with it prior to me seeing it. Who knows what years they might have been.
