Anybody ever build a 10 or 12 twist 6-47 Lapua for dog hunting with light to medium weight bullets? I am thinking about getting one more tube for one of my BAT's strictly for dogs. I LOVE the Dasher, and it seems that it's performance is very close the the 6-47 lapua with far less powder. But I don't want to FF cases for the Dasher and am a little nervous about substituting the new Norma Dasher brass. It seems that with the different reamers, brass, shell holders, Dies(?), ect.... It would be like starting with a whole new caliber. I already have everything I need for the 6-47 Lapua except for the brass.
My goal is to have three guns with two tubes for each gun.....one short range and the other long range. I have one set up as a 12 twist 22BR and an 8 twist 6.5 WSSM, one set up as a 12 twist dasher and an 8 twist 6-47L, and the last one is already an 8 twist Dasher, and I was thinking about making this the medium twist 6-47L. I have been plinking the dogs with the heavy LR bullet, but shooting the dogs with a fast, light weight bullet is like.......well... a sexual experience for me!!
Both of the varment tubes I have done in the last year (12 twist dasher and the 12 twist 22br) have by far exceded my expectations with accuracy AND velocity!! Just wondering what kind of FPS and accuracy people are getting with the 65 - 88 grain bullets in a slower twist 6-47L. Information on dashers and 6-47L's with light bullets is scarce, to say the least.
Thanks,
Tod
