Burris Signature Zee Rings Versus Lapping Other RIngs

I have never used Signature rings with the inserts.

Anyone have experience with these versus say lapping a pair of NF or other rings? Pros vs cons.

Anyone use the new XTR Signature rings? They come in 34mm unlike the regular Signature rings.

Used Signature rings with inserts on two of my 1000yd. comp rifles they worked very well, no slippage and left no ring marks on scope. They were both 6mm dashers.

I've used Signature Zee rings before and they worked extremely well. My first .308 F-TR rifle has those rings to get the scope canted for 1000 yards. It never moved.

Do not lap quality rings; there is nothing you can do to improve them, but there's a lot you can do to damage them.

I use signature rings on everything. They are awesome rings, no slipage, no ring marks, and you can put cant into the rings.

The only downside to the regular signature rings is they are steel and can rust. However the XTR II rings are aluminum so no issues there.

The XTR II rings are very robust with six screws per ring, very nice rings

I have them mounted on two rifles including a .300 win. No issues with slipping . I'm going to try one of their canted inserts to see how they perform

I wouldn't use anything else than the Signatures with inserts. I cringe at some of the installs I see with solid rings.

I now prefer Burris Signature Zee rings. I have 3 sets. One is on a long range 338 Edge with 40 MOA added, making 60 total. One on a 50DTC. One waiting for next build to finish.

I am going to give the 30mm Signature Zees a shot. One thing that concerns me is that it appears they use a slotted screw head for the cross bolt.

According to Burris, the 30mm XTR's weigh 7 oz. Ouch!

Best rings going in my opinion for all the same reasons as mentioned above. They are all I use.

My 30mm signature Z-Rings have an Allen head screw in the cross slot.

I use the XTR Signature rings on my rifles.. They have been beneficial to me when using the Nightforce BR scope with only 40 moa elevation, I'm able to use the inserts to usually end up with 4-5 minutes down and the remaining elevation adjustment up... I've used them to get my windage close to mechanical zero as well on some other rifles.. They are heavy, but a solid set of rings nonetheless...

I did a little trick with my Burris signature rings. I got rid of the cross bolt they have and drilled out for 10-32 and tapped it the redrilled the other side for a clearance. hole. I got longer cap screws so the threaded part is not against the mount and cut them off to fit. They are .187 just fit in the slot and you can tighten them to 65 inch pounds...... Jim

I like the Signature Z because of the eccentric inserts. Center the cross hair in the scope and then adjust the eccentric inserts to get close. I do not know if the eccentric inserts are available for the 30 and 34 mm rings.

Torque head cap screws are available, but I wish they would go to a larger screw size.

Good idea! I've broken the ones that come with the rings, probably Guangdong province specials. Are you using socket head cap screws?
