33 Nosler

Anyone messing with the 33 Nosleryet? Only load data out is for 180s and 200s. I am looking to shoot the 250 Berger elite hunter. Trying to figure out what powder to go with.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

Looks like Nosler is getting ~2500 fps with the 300 gr bullets

I run around 2600 fps in my 338RUM with 10gr more powder and a 25" barrel.

My guess is that this round will be popular for a year or two and fade away like the 338RUM did.

On a side note, the shorter case vs the 338RUM will allow this to fit in a 338 AICS magazine and allow the 300's to be seated way out.

We run 3000 with a 300 Berger in the RUM IMP. Good accuracy at 1000 with the RE33. Matt

Why did the RUM die out and the Lapua stay popular? The Lapua seems like a way bigger PIA to shoot with regards to action size, mag length, and Cost of components. I would be interested in a 33 Nosler. You can run it in a standard long action and it can at least hang with the .338 family of cartridges.

Actually the Lapua has a slightly shorter case than the RUM. Brass, brass, brass. Remington brass when run at high pressures does not last long.

That's what they make RE33 for. We got 3000 with a 300 and no pressure. Pretty good accuracy at 1000 yards also. The guy that shot the 300 Berger with RE33 at 3000 shot a whitetail at 1869 yards. The deer walked a few steps and fell over. The damage that bullet did at that distance was incredible. Matt

The guy I sold my 338L to had very good results with RL33 also. I tried H1000 and Retumbo, with Retumbo being the best but the RL33 was much better than both H's.

I'm not so sure the 33 Nosler will die away as it ticks several boxes.

Fits into magazine length no matter what bullet.
Uses a regular magnum action.
Has hunting performance over a wide range.
Can have a 24" barrel without performance sacrifice or excessive muzzle blast.

Mine is actually a 338/26-Nosler so a bit more capacity.

No the maximum performance is now where near the 338RUM, 338/300RUM, 338 Lapua, 338 Norma. It is a smaller case. The performance is enough from a hunting standpoint to go to 1000 yards. It has target performance to go to +1500 yards.

It really prefers 250 grain or lighter bullets.
