Nightforce warranty?

I have A 21 year old Nightforce BR 12x42. I think something is amiss on the inside as I am no longer getting repeatable and consistent adjustments as well as consistent impacts. Something that was corrected when I put a different scope on the rifle.

My question is what is the warranty? I am not the original owner. Will they look at it and fix it if something broke? If I have to pay for something what am I looking at?

Thanks

Lifetime warranty, period. Call them up, they send you an RMA number and have you fill out a form to send in. A few weeks later you get your scope back or a replacement.

I got the opposite when I called. They were defensive and didn't want to even talk about the possibility of their scopes not holding poi. I have spoken with quite a few others with the exact same experience. When it comes to zero holding, they probably will tell you you have loose mounts and dont even send it in. They test this by smacking the scope like a hammer, they dont do anything to duplicate recoil. They said they never found one that would not hold zero. I know of quite a few that wont... So, hopefully yours is flat out broken and they will fix it.

I recently talked to Robert in NF Customer Service. He was great and I had an RMA number via E-mail in about 10 minutes. It had instructions on what to do. I sent it out last Thursday and on Friday a NF Baseball Cap came to me from them, even before they checked the scope and determined what the problem was. It is a NF BR 12x42. They will probably get it tomorrow. Anxious to see what they say and how long it takes to get it back.

I even offered to try it a few more times to see if it would do the same thing again and they said, send it in and we will get to the bottom of it.

I will say this they are a great product. But there warranty is horrible. I took me a absolute rediculous time to get a RMA from them. I would call leave a time when I could be reached. They would always call when I could not be reached. Would not leave rma so I could at least get them going to them. Then the real problem came when they were done. I have never been told so many times that I had done something wrong. Every time I would contradict what they were saying they would pick a new path. So round and around we would go. Long and short they told me there was nothing wrong. And wouldn't you know when I got them back they both were miraculously working. Long and short for me I am done with Night Force. Great product horrible service. So good luck with your's. Jim williams

The "nothings wrong" is common amount NF, Vortex and Leupold. II have used l three's warranty and I get the same BS. My first NF warranty back in 2004 the said the first time the couldn't find a issue. I duplicated it and sent two box tests with it and they sent a new scope. Leupold and Vortex both basiclly said nothing was wrong. (Leupold said they adjusted parallax) but both came back fixed.

I have not talked to anyone in the industry, but my gut feeling is that since the Internet became what it is, unless it's something like sealant running onto the lens, etc the policy is to deny anything is wrong so it doesn't get blown up and out of proportion by going viral on the gun boards.

I have been following this NF issue on the 15-55 Comps for some time now before I pull the trigger on a new one and just recently had a local guy that was disgusted with NF CS with this exact scope. They have refused to allow him to send it back with no reason, so he says. He is hoping that the place he purchased it from will take it back.

I have never had a manufacturer not take one back. I sent one scope back twice only to get a clean bill of health each time only to find that it was my dovetail mounts that were the cause. No dovetail mounts used after that.

I got a call yesterday from Nightforce. They said since the scope was so new and had so few rounds under it, that they got to it immediately. Robert told me the current average turn around time is 3-4 weeks. In any case, they put on their recoil tester at three times what they think the recoil of my gun would be and had to Out of Focus issues, but then they found a problem with the reticle focus adjustment. They fixed that and it is supposed to be back on its way to me today.

I want to set up a scope in a set of 25 MOA kelbly Rings that I bought to use as a Change Scope for going from 100 yards to 1,000 without a lot of work. How does everyone feel about the Sightron III 10x60 for 1,000 Yards as compared to another 12x42 NF BR?

Thanks, Bob

The Nightforce BR is one of the best scopes for holding zero. The Sightron has good glass but I wouldn't trust the mechanics as much. I know the Nightforce is one of the scopes that hold up to the recoil and clamshell brake on a 50 call. Matt

I've got one now that is back at the factory, at first I got the loose rings spiel on the phone but I repeated the problem in different rings and on 2 guns, you could zero it and shoot a shot, dial up 20 moa shoot and dial it back down to zero and that poi would always be 1/2 moa low and right.

Hopefully it'll get fixed, on an older NXS that has served me well for years but like all things mechanical, failures do happen

My experience within the past two weeks is exactly the same as Alex and Jim. I called and Robert was nice but insistent that the problem was me or my setup. I explained that the scope wouldn't hold zero - especially right after a scope adjustment. He informed me that the base was loose. I told him that the base was part of the receiver (Panda F-Class) . He then said it must be the rings and asked what rings was I using. I told him Burris Signature rings and he told me he had never heard of such rings! I explained that I had shot thousands of rounds thru multiple rifles with these rings and they always hold the scope securely. He said well it can't be the scope "because we have literally thousands of NF competitions out there and NONE have ever broke! I explained that twice I switched to a NF BR that I had and the problem went away and it came back when I put the Comp back on. Finally he said send it in and we'll take a look at it. He gave me the exact BS story that they were 3 to 4 weeks behind on repairs so be patient. Within a few days of receiving the scope he called and said they moved it up on the repair list but there was nothing wrong with it. I once again explained that there was something wrong with it. After being told it was my rings again I told him to send it back so I could peddle it and buy a March. He finally agreed to look at it again but shortly I receive a phone message that said nothing was wrong and he was returning it. Bottom line - the scope can't be trusted and neither can their warranty.

The exact story on my NF. comps. This must be a standard answer you get. The first thing in fixing a problem is admitting you have one. I only have one NF. left and it is an NXS and it doesn't need fixed....... strange...... Jim

After reading this, so much for NF'S great warranty.

For what it's worth (and I have had more than most) I have never had any issues with them. I only had one that needed sent in for warranty and they fixed it and had it back to me in under 3 weeks. Can't remember exactly how long it took but under 3 weeks.
It had a parallax issue and they did get it fixed.

Ya, they told me the same thing. None ever broke then I started to name names of exactly whom I knew that Sent then in and where repaired. They got quiet. I even gave phone numbers to follow up on, no calls made. Scope testing will be made public. They have a problem, I believe it's big enough that it will kill them if they admit to it.

Well I guess its time to spill the beans. We have know about the NF comp scopes issues for a while. I have built a scope tester and its been verified. I'll say it on record, THE NF COMP DOES NOT HOLD ZERO.

Now, I love NF. Their 12-42 BR scope is excellent. I use the NXS as well. But their service sucks. I hate to say. When they lie, repeatedly. Refuse to admit a problem and treat you like a fool they are covering their asses. In this case I just cant stick up for them :(
