I wanted to make a quick post because I am so impressed with this brake. I have used a bunch of brakes, they all work. I had a 3 port brake on my 28 Nosler. I thought it kicked a little much. I dont like recoil. I heard good things about the muzzle brakes and more brakes. I put a 4 port MB&M on there and oh my god! I can free recoil this 8.5lb with optics 28 nosler. The difference was absolutely amazing to me. I dont know the manufacturer, but give credit where credits due, he designed the best brake I have used by far.

I didnt notice it being worse...?? Bottom line, muzzle brakes are loud and kick gas back. I wear ear plugs no matter what unless hunting. One shot wont kill me. If I am gonna use a brake and deal with the extra noise I want it to actually reduce the recoil. They all do, but this one almost feels like it pulls the rifle forward. I am seriously impressed with it.
 
Nathan & Ross make good brakes that work. I respect the guys because they don't gouge us on price, I have brakes from both. If a brake isn't loud it isn't working, I always wear plugs under my muffs but its to late for me my hearing is shot from farming with JD 2 cylinders growing up, 2 years of the army, and my years in heavy equipment & construction after I got married.

One shot may not kill you, but one can dang sure damage your hearing beyond repair. I shot between 2 braked rifles at the groundhog shoot last Saturday (wearing plugs AND muffs), and my ears are still ringing.

I thought MB&M made a brake with a blast shield and I wondered if it worked.

Eric, it works great follow up shots are so much easier to make. I also have a MPA self timing brake that Phil Cash owner of MPA gave us for RO'ing last years shoot. I have not tried it yet but have seen it being used and it is about as good as Nathan's. Being told this by my buddy that shoots both. They are designed with the top of the ports angled forward, bottom is rearward, which helps with muzzle rise. Watch his videos, talk to him he his a good guy and has tested many of the top PRS used brakes against his. He is very truthful with the results.

The more efficient brakes direct more gas toward the shooter and therefore more noise. Also the perceived recoil can differ widely, depending on rifle stock design and weight.
 
I still think that the most effective break i have used is the big assed arrowhead break on the factory Armalite AR 30. To be fair, I haven't tried the MNM.
