Harrels Tactical Brakes

I've used Harrels Radial brakes and love how much they reduce recoil. Just wondering if anyone has used their new Tactical brake and how it compares in recoil reduction to the radial brake?

Wanting the tactical style for a varmint rifle so I don't blow the paint off the hood of my truck when shooting over it. Thanks

I doubt you would notice the difference in felt recoil to your shoulder. Call Harrell's. I think a guy there told me the radial was actually better for recoil reduction by a little. Not 100 % on that, so give them a call.

tHEY WORK EQUALLY AS WELL. yOU WONT BLOW THE PAINT OFF YOUR TRUCK BUT DONT PUT IT TO CLOSE TO THE WINDSHIELD.lol

His site doesn't say which is which, I'm guessing the multi radial hole is his "radical' , and the 4 port "shark gill" is his tactical ?
IMHO anything smaller that a 308 based round would be OK with a 3 port like the Ross brake. If the maker uses the same Dia. hole from front to rear through the brake that the majority of gas is vented through the port nearest the muzzle. Where if the hole sizes were larger at first and smallest in the last baffle where the bullet exits, them more of the gases would be used as force against the 3 or 4 baffles .

My $ 0.02 ::)

I have one on a 260 and really like it. They take a little bit of gunsmithing work, but for $45, they are a bargain. The worst part about the purchase is, he sends you the brake, and says "send me a check if you want to keep it". WHAT?!?!?! Great guy to deal with!

I know it's only a 260, but my scope does not leave the target, even on 30+ magnification. They work as well as any other brake I've owned that cost 3 times as much.

Yeah the couple brakes Ive bought from Harrels needed a lot of cleaning up so wont be any surprises there. But it looks like his website is finally set up to buy things online. Has a shopping cart and everything. Ol' Lynnwood must finally be moving up in the world :) Good for him!

It's just gonna be for a 20 Tactical on an AR15 platform with a heavy bull barrel. Not gonna be much recoil to begin with, but I'm trying to fully minimize it. Thanks for all your input fellas. Looks like I'll be ordering a Tactical brake.

I haven't used them before, but I'm planning to get tacticals in 6mm and 308 from them shortly.

The only braked rifle I have (a .338 Lapua Mag) has the tactical/shark gill type brake on it, and the first thing I noticed (other than the thing doesn't recoil any more than an 7.5lb .308 Win and that it is loud enough to wake the dead in .338 LM) is that it doesn't kick up dust when I shoot from prone. Not a consideration for everybody, but I had hoped that would be the case, so that pleased me.

I've been using Harrell's tactical brakes on everything except where a customer is going with a proprietary brake/mount for a suppressor. No complaints, and at the price, I can afford to bore them out to the correct size & radius the sharp front edge.
