So im starting to get really discouraged with this new rifle. A weatherby in 300 win mag 1:10 twist. I loaded hornady cases because i had 200 new sitting here with berger 185gr classic hunters and h1000 and rem 9.5 magnum primers. I shot 4 groups of 5 rounds of each load in a ocw test and found .030" off the lands and 78 grains was in the middle of the only node i found. Average was 2920 on virgin bras. Max with this combo is 79.5 grains a distinctive ejector mark and primers were starting to flatten. So i picked 78 and loaded 50 rounds and saw no problems at all. Now the lot of 100 peices has been once fired i sized and bumbed the shoulder .001" the body gets sized .003" with the die i have. Loaded 50 with the 78gr charge. There shooting great on a clean or dirty barrel untill today. Out of 25 that i shot over my chrono 2 caused the bolt to stick really bad. Only two, they also had a ejector mark and swipe. Heres the weird part the other 23 shots were around 2960 fps these 2 showed 2901fps? So low velocity and sticky bolt( had to smack the bolt open) but all primers looked great and the groups were good. Im getting discouraged because this load had shot great nothing changed i checked my scale with weights. Same lot of bullets, primers, powder the outside temp was within 6 degrees. Also wouldn't i lose a bit of velocity with once fired. The base to shoulder from new to fired on the brass is a .008" diffrence. But i dont think that should cause a problem if anything it should increase case capacity and should theoretically lower pressure a bit. Im about ready to pull my hair out. What could have changed?
