Sharp Shooters Supply

Has anyone talked to anybody at Sharp Shooters Supply lately? Ive been trying to get ahold of them for a couple months. Wondering if they are still in business?

I spoke with Lisa back in late November and ordered a stock from them. I sent her an email yesterday about some other stuff and have not heard back yet. They certainly have a unique way of doing business but I guess it works.

The last time I talked to her was June or July through email, but haven't heard from her since I have emailed them twice , in last couple months, was wondering about them. If you happen to hear from them, would you give me a heads up. Thank you

I got an email from Lisa three weeks ago. She said my action was the oldest job in the shop and would be coming soon. Nothing yet. BTW, they have discontinued the Evolution trigger.

It's their business model there are tons of documented cases here and elsewhere. You just gotta wait, most get their stuff but it's a LONG time with no or little communication. Good luck!

I guess I was lucky abt 10 yrs ago. I had bought a trigger and o'size bolt and had a question, so I called. I'm thinking it was meal or snack time....."Yah, chomp slurp, do this and chomp, chomp do that slurp, chomp." A real experience.

When emailing make sure to use the subject line briefly stating what you want, add phone number and email address. Lisa will then reply usually within 2 days or less.
Then be prepared to wait if you decide to use Fred's services. Been this way forever, I sent in an action for T & T and a competition trigger ( 3 oz. ) in July and it came home in November but the work done is top notch and reasonably priced.
After all most of us Savage guys are frugal to start with that's why we buy them so we can do the work ourselves or as cheap as possible. Right?

Not a Savage guy but this may be a business opportunity just waiting to be taken.

My thoughts as well. I'm somewhat familiar with Fred Moreo and his business, although not on a personal basis. According to his website, Obama Care forced him to pare back his operation etc etc, which is certainly an issue that's clobbered many small businesses. But I strongly suspect more is in play with SSS.

My gut feeling is the he's an excellent gunsmith and a mediocre businessman. Pretty typical situation in the skilled trades. As long as he's the only show in town, customers will endure poor communication and outrageous service intervals.

Eventaully someone with real business acumen will spot this low hanging fruit.

I've been coming to this site since before O'Mama and certainly before the implementation of that Careless Health package.i have seen many posts by people here about the manner in which Fred and his wife conduct their business. So, my advice would be to do business with them but know fully that they do business at their own speed, or lack of. I also think that if they took on a partner with, as was mentioned, a person with a good business background things could possibly go more faster. I almost said "more smoothly" but held back on that. So, do business with them with your eyes open and your speedometer set to their speed.

There are a few other Savage smiths out there whose reputations run the gamut but you can be sure what ever Fred does it cones back first class work wise.
Lets face it he is a one man operation with more work than he can handle so it takes time, same anywhere you go quality takes time and there are only so many hours in a day.

How can OBammercare hurt a small business? It had no effect on either of my business s.

I have been dealing with them for over 2 years now, usually she always emails when I send one, but haven't heard from her the last couple of times I have emailed her, which is why I was asking if anyone else talked to them lately.

I don't mind the wait as.much as not knowing what progress is being made. He is working on 3 rifles for me, and you know I have never talked to the man. Lisa is the only one I have ever talked to. I can understand it takes time to get things done, but the lack of communication, I think really hurts their reputation. Like others have said there are some good gunsmiths that work on Savage guns out there, and I think they are losing business because of it.

I appreciate quality of work as much or maybe even more than most people but I can't deal with a business entity that fails to communicate. I expect to be given a realistic expectation of completion when the job is commissioned. If that completion can't be met, I want to know asap as that could change my plans.

Butch, I guess you're just lucky. :( Me, not so; took the easy way out and shut it down, since I had an annuity coming in from my first career, and I hadn't expected this one to run for 12 years anyway, so I was ahead of the game in that respect.
