Crowning question , extra tight bore.

Have a finished 31 inch 30 cal ( 308 win ) palma barrel , still shoots great , want to put a new 11 degree crown ,and re chamber it to 30BR ( project gun ) only problem is when I went to install my range rod in , my smallest bushing ( .2992 ) will not fit in the crown end . The rod which is about .2965 where the bushing butts up to it will barley go in the crown end and will go in the chamber end a little further , am I limited to doing the same flat 2 step crown that it has on it ,and what about the chamber end also. or is there some other way to index the bore. Any advise would be great.

Use your test indicator and dial it in.

Why change the sucess you already have .?

Myself, when in doubt, I re-crown. Never had a re-crown backfire yet !.!.!
Know a couple successful BR shooters who re-crown after every match (they go in 0.005"-ish each time).

going in for my second major shoulder operation this winter , so going to play more of short range , less recoil game.

borderghost, It probably has the wrong twist rate anyway for the 30BR.

Thanks Butch , it is a 1-13 twist , was planning on using 125grn Hp/Bt and seeing what it would do for 300 to 500 yd distance , again it was just a fun project.
