Hand priming tools?

my older hornady hand primer broke. I left the small primer end in the tool when I moved and it snapped off. Of course now I need it. What's good in hand primers now? I really don't want a single load br tool. Thanks

I have a Hornady one myself but, it is such a pain. I no longer use it.
I was in my local Cabelas and the outlet had this marked like $13.99 then with a % off. Stole this for like $8.50 otd. I was in shock to see it marked so low for some unknown reason. They sell for $63.99 normally there.
No shell holders needed and the primer always lines up perfect as opposed to ones like the cheaper Hornady. Works smooth as silk.
This is the one to get. You can thank me later. :)

^^^^^^^^ I also use this one and like it.

I haven't used their tray model (the thought of a tray of primers going off on my hand is not something I care to indulge), but my 21st century single loader is very nice.

I still use 6 of the old screw in shell holder types made by Lee that date to the late 1960s and sold at discount for $1.50.
I have used a few others including all the later Lee types, the K&M and several other designs. I don't really care for any of the newer tools especially the tray magazine versions.

I have an RCBS #90200 hand priming tool that uses standard RCBS shell holders. If I were to list all the reasons not to get this tool, we'd be here all day.

The RCBS have what they call a "safety gate" on their primer tools, so tray can't/ shouldn't go off. Dont know if anybody has had a tray go off with this setup. And as you said you've never used

Soooooo what do you us if I may ask?
I currently use the RCBS because I have not yet found a replacement. It's usable but very problematic.

A few of the reasons I dislike this tool include:
1) It doesn't seem to work with all RCBS shell holders. I have a #7 holder that just does not fit.
2) The primer tray works loose easily, causing the primers to jam in the action.
3) When you loosen the bar that controls the primer feed to change the shell holder, the lever system that seats the primers can drop down and not go back up until you poke something in to manually push the rammer back up.
4) With some shell holders it can be difficult to assemble and disassemble.
5) I don't like the way it feels in the hand. It's uncomfortable.
6) If a primer gets stuck during seating, it can be a bear to clear.

Yup agree on all those points!!! Used to have one and had same problems. Like the new style much better. No shellholders to change out. Universal. Still some slight issues but not like the old ones!

After i went to a single load (21st century), priming cases STILL doesnt take long. Tray vs single feed is a small time difference overall when priming a few hundred cases at a time. The "time saving" isnt really a factor still, the consistant seating depth out weighs the extra minute it adds overall...

I have had many over the years.
I loved the old Lee with the round try.
I have a new Lee with Triangle Feeder ( Sucks)

I have a 21st Century I think it is the Best of the Best...
RCBS Bench Tool is great.

I was using an old Lee round until it finally died, looked and thought and ended up with a K & M. I was worried that popping a primer in by hand would be too slow and a real issue but it hasn't been at all. Takes a couple minutes to get used to it and you're good to go. A far superior tool over what I was using , uses the Lee primer tool shell holders which I already had so it was a plus there as well. Seating depth is easily adjusted, both large & small pins included. Easy to switch over. Might take a minute or two.

This unit seems to me to be designed more for liability issues rather than efficient priming.

I have never found a reason to replace my 20+ year old Lee. Only thing I've used of theirs that WORKS. But I'm sure there are better priming tools available.

For less precise I just use the priming feature on my Foster Coaxial Press, but for Bench Rest I bought the K&M Dial Hand Priming Tool. I hope that all the time it takes is worth it.
