6x47 Lapua 87 v-max powder

A friend is having a 6x47L built and it is almost complete, which i will be loading for. Initially i had intended to use H4350 as it has proven to be accurate in the 6 and 6.5x47. However, this is a short barrel (18") rifle and will be shooting 87 vmaxes for coyotes. I was curious as to whether using a faster powder like varget or H4895 would potentially bring back the lost velocity and still maintain the accuracy? Anybody else running 87 vmax out of a 6x47L ? what powder are you using?

I run H100v in my 243 win Kimber Montana with some of the highest velocities with 88 bergers. H4350 was a no go for me.
My BLR short barrel likes RL17 with 87 grain Bergers. Hope this helps.

I run H4350 in a 6mm-250I with 87 VMax bullets. But the barrel is 28" long. With a shorter barrel I'd opt for a quicker burn rate.

I have been shooting a 6x47 with moly 87 grain vmax for a couple of years now. 1-10 twist 28" and i have been loadind 39.8 of H4350 in silouete matches out to 600. Won several matches with it but thst 87 grain bullet suffers in the wind out at longer distances.

I'd bet H380 would do well in that short tube.

35 gr. Varget and a 105 A-Max gave me the best accuracy in my 18 inch 6x47L.

I shoot a 6X47L XP100R that Jon Beanland built with a 15" barrel. I shoot 87 gr VMax with 39.2 gr of H 4350 and get 2840 FPS I also got good speed with Norma 203B but not quite as good accuracy. Got to love the little 6 !

Do you feel like there is a complete burn of the powder, or is it like a flame thrower. Not trying to be smart, just very interested. Thanks for sharing.
