6x47 Lapua 87 gr vmax

Bumping this up from the dead...
Got a sweet shooting load for the 6x47Lapua with 105Hybrids. But being that chuck season is rapidly approaching, figured to follow thru from last years BS and try some 87Vmaxs...
H4350 looked real good on QL with the Vmaxs as well, so dumped 40.0gr into virgin cases and seated the 87s .015" off jam. Wouldn't ya know it, 5 shots ragged a hole out at 100yds! Magnetospeed said 3165fps avg, 16fps spread. That is out of a 23" Bartlein 1:8...

The 87Vmax kill real well @ 6x45AI speed, and I suspect they'll be even more impressive from the 6x47L going ~250fps faster. Hope the weather is good this weekend, fixin' to find out!

LOL, you did!
Yeah, something's weird with p-bucket. Will try to re-upload and share again...
Course, I coulda walked out & took a pic for forensic purposes, but that would have been too easy!o_O

Shot 87 V-Max in a 6XC and a 6-250AI. H4350 and Ramshot Hunter did best in 28" barrels. Laser of mayhem on prairie dogs.

OK, PB is working , so striking while the iron is hot here!

This is me whiffin' one @ 420. Figured there'd be some L--->R breeze up on the hill, and held just off the nose to compensate. Reckon I didn't give that 87Vmax load enough credit in the wind??? That's only shot #2 ever on a 'chuck with that load, so you're seeing the learning curve in full effect...

Can see the vaportrail and miss, right off the schnozzle:

And I still think you were high! ;)

Things gotta be heating up in CNY. wait three weeks for mowing though. Never in any hurry there...no profit to be made and gas prices cost cutting.

I think this should be double posted to varmint thread Fredo

By all accounts, the 87Vmax is a coyote smasher, extraordinaire!
Have shot alot of those bullets out of a .243Win, and now 6x45AI They are plenty accurate for field shooting, cheap and kill without inpunity. Not pelt friendly @ .243Win speeds...Damage Inc.
My little 6x45AI throws them @ 2875 from only a ~25gr charge.
87Vmax, 3 & 5 shots @ 100, .010" off the lands. That'll do for coyote detail...

I'd think the 6x47L would be a nice platform to launch them from & bet they'd crowd 3150 from a 20" barrel.
Having a 6x47L built now for 105/115s, but will try the good ol' 87Vmaxs, just for a goof.

Have fun!!!
What powder did you use in your 243?

I use the 87gr VMax in my Marlin 6 Dasher at 3240mv. Approx 15 kills and no exits or blow ups. From 30 yards to 250 yards they have proven very deadly. The next one could be a different story, but so far very pelt friendly. Barlow
