Cabelas gun library

just went to look around, where do they get there prices? Really? I'm not trying to be a smart a$$! For instance

1. Remington sps with a AAC brake in a hoge overmold stock....$1300
2. Older Remington 700 heavy barrel laminate 243 ...$1500
3. Winchester 70 heavy Varmint 223...$1500
4. Remington 308 police...$2000.

Do they actually sell these?

Not that I can see. There have been a few that I was interested in and they would not budge in their overprice. Shook my head and just walked away.

Hey, Caleb: I have seen some very high prices on guns in the "special room" at the local Cabela's. Prices I wouldn't pay if I won the lottery. Even worse, the staff seems to have little knowledge about any of them.

What I couldn't understand is the 70 heavy Varmint!! I had two of these. One in 243 ( I sold to a member on here) and one in a 223, I wounder what the would give me for it?!!!:D

We have a local Cabelas and most of their staff in the firearms/optics sales isn't very knowledgeable either. Seems every time I start asking detailed questions about optics or firearms specs, features, or functions, they give me that blank look like I just asked them to explain how to build a space shuttle. Don't know what some of them do all day, but they sure as hell don't read up on the products they're selling.

My experience has been hit and miss. I walked out of the Pheonix Cabelas a couple years ago with Rem 722 222 and two Rem 600s in 243 for a total of 920 bucks, all three guns were in good condition. They were asking more but I made the gun manager an offer and he took it. Went back a couple more times and never saw another good deal. They get stupid money for their desirables, but people pay it. Amazes me. Plus one on what Ledd said, many of the staff members lack knowledge, probably a reflection of their pay grade.

I asked one of them on the older heavy barrel 243 " what twist did these come in?" And yes he just looked at me like I asked him to explain Michael Jackson!

From what I've seen at two gun libraries, they're just showcases to bring in foot traffic. If you're interested, there's a bolt action TACTICOOL "sniper" rifle at the Delaware store for just north of $8000.

Lol! A lot of those guys don't even know what twist rate is, let alone the significance of it.
