ITAR Registration -- Plan on Paying your Gunsmith more...

When the State becomes the Ruler and the People default, then the People form a black-market economy. Soviets did it. Chinese do it. Eventually, after much suffering, the government is toppled. If there is a people left with a moral core, democracy and liberty ensue. if they are bereft of moral compass, anarchy, totalitarianism, despotism ensues.

It is time for those with moral fortitude to step up and vote, run for office, elect and spend money to get elected, people of character. And it is nigh time to resist the blatant strangling of liberty.

So it's not going to be about serialized actions anymore:

I know first hand. An uninletted, laminated prone stock is considered an ITAR item. Unequivocally explained to me by a homeland security agent accompanied by a border patrol agent in my shop about 3 years ago.

(posted by a renown gunsmith / stock-fitter on another forum today.)

So pistol grips are going to fall into it also . Every article we buy to build our competition rig is going to cost more and some may not be available again .

AGREED!!!!! Do it guys!!! Light 'em up! Make your voice heard to your congressman and senators.......and don't forget to VOTE!

I don't know if it doesn't cover even any one who makes a change to any gun part.
If that's is the case you can't do it for yourself.
BTAF will be getting a call from me.
Larry

I'm not about to find out .
You just purchased a lathe , I have 3 lathes , mills , tooling and just bought a stock duplicator . Retired a while ago , but still do my own , I guess I'm making table legs now and threaded heavy duty tomatoe stakes .
I know it will not matter at all what I call it , BIG BROTHER can call it what they want .

Already so many laws, rules and regulations. Will they actually enforce this?
When it was time to re-new my FFL 2yrs ago, I'd decided I needed to stop being 07 and become 01, again. The 07 raised my insurance, I had DDTC registration, and I had to buy a second safe for my "manufactured firearms" and couldn't for the life of me sell a rifle I had pre-made, on the rack, ready to go (I wish it had a 28" barrel instead of the 26", can you change out triggers for the same price? I'd rather have a Jewell than the Shilen that's on it., Can you paint the stock a different color? I'd rather have it brown instead of black, for the same money, of course. Can't ya ' make me a better price on that? It goes on and on. No wonder companies the offer pre-made customs only offer a couple of options!). To go back to 01 Dealer I had to re-apply, I wasn't allowed to re-new. I did. When the visit by the inspector came he wanted a copy of my LLC Certificate of Registration. Now, when inspected, they'll want a copy of your DDTC registration, too. Gotcha!

It applies to you Savage too. If you change the barrel to a different cartridge that will enhance accuracy you are already in neck deep!
I know but someone will make thousands of barrels for a savage . But small gun shops will stop . And home builders will do also.
The real loss will end up being competitive shooting sport . Larry

Prepare for the jail time and fine, Larry, "Cause you just ain't gettin' it!

The way I read it, if there is no intent to sell ammo, the tax wouldn't be levied but you still need to register if you reload. That's just as bad as the tax in my opinion!

No, the real loss will be to every shooter who will need a gunsmith at one time or another. Whether its the serious deer or quail hunter, the plinker or the competitive shooter, all will feel the loss at some time.
