RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Spent Primer Device

I love my Rock Chucker but hate the mess that it left no matter what I did to the primer catcher. When I size and deprime at the same time I do it on my Summit which channels ALL the primers and related crud directly into a cup which I have modified so it all then goes into a tube taking it into a collection bucket. May have to empty the bucket in a few years but nothing builds up on the bench or floor below.

When I use the Rock Crusher I've already deprimed all the brass and cleaned it in SS Pin media so there's absolutely NO crud to fall anywhere.

Previously I'd played with tape, rubber bands, pieces of aluminum flashing, etc, but never totally controlled the primer mess, especially on shorter cases where the primer and crud was released from the case at a greater height (farther from the collection tray).

The perfect solution to the renegade primer(s) is to decap on a Lee Loadmaster; Lee Classic Cast Turret, ect. Catches all primers and crud and doesn't expose your "loading" press to all that filth.

I put mine on and take it off all the time.

Again, I have three Rock Chuckers, the primer catcher allows primers to escaped between the center of the catcher and press, if they do not escaped while in use they escaped when I remove the catcher to empty. For me? No problem, I wrap the catcher with my choice of colors. I know, there is duct tape, problem, duct tape comes in silver.

And then? Do not forget, winter is coming. I flew out of Newark, they wanted to check some of the passengers shoes so I volunteered, they wanted to know what all of those silver round rings were that were embedded into the soles of my shoes. I told them the little rings were knobbies for ice and snow.

I just use my Lee challenger press to deprime only in the garage. It's permanently installed in a corner so if 1 or 2 primers fall on the floor... No big deal..
I keep the Rock chuckler (clean) inside for sizing and seating.

Punching primers from crimped primer pockets can be tuff on primer punch assembles. I punched thousands of primers from military cases with total disregard as to where they went. And then I had to fly from Newark to DFW. When going through the inspection station the inspectors asked 4 passengers ahead of me to remove their shoes. Out of sympathy I removed my shoes; what a surprise. My rubber soled shoes were covered with little 'O's', an inspector asked me what the little 'O' were for. I said knobblies for ice and snow grip. The 4 passengers in front of me were from India; they were not happy but thought it was amusing I joined them.

Lucky the bomb dog was on his day off.

To prevent spent primers from jumping out of the catch tray on my original RCBS press, I cut a piece of heavy leather scrap about one inch square with a small tab that fits between the press and the primer seater spring. As the primer is pushed out, it is dampened by this small piece of leather and falls into the tray. The leather can be easily removed since it’s only held in place by the spring. Works about 99%.
