How much is a used Rem 700 SA worth?

I would like to sell a blued, short action with a large rifle bolt face. It has been blueprinted by one of the smiths that is included in the accurateshooter site list of top gunsmiths. It comes with a Factory trigger that was lightened by the smith (~1-1.5 lb pull). I was thinking this would be worth $500-$600 is that in the right neighborhood?

Thanks,
T.

Put it up for sale and see if there are any takers, better to start a little high than give it away, you can always drop the price.

Really, even if it has been blueprinted? My expectation was that having the action trued would add to its value.
I deleted my original post after I re-read your post. I didnt see it was blue printed. I dont know how much if any that adds to the value. One reason to go with a custom is no matter what you do to a 700 its still a 700. Put it up for sale and like the others said you can always lower the price.

^^^^^^^ Ditto. If you mention the smith by name, you may get some added value. What you put into it? Prolly not. Even a Bat loses some value being used, instead of new. If it didn't, everyone would buy new. Used always bears the question of "How used?"

I'd say you are a bit high.

Even though it's been "blueprinted", most guys won't figure that in to the cost if buying.

Myself, if buying an action advertised as "blueprinted", I'd want full documentation from the 'smith doing the work, as well as a list of exactly what he did, and the current measurements. Otherwise, I look at it as something that could've been done right, or possibly wrong, and maybe even made it worse, depending on who did the work. I would be figuring in the additional cost of me having to pay to have everything rechecked, so your initial investment means nothing to me except a potential added cost that I have to pay to have it gone over again.

I would rather buy an unmolested action myself, and use the 'smith of my choice for all further work.

Put it up...........

It might be just what someone is looking for, you can always take offers on it.

Don`t give up before you even start.

You fellas sure know how to shatter a guy's hopes and dreams.:( jd

Don't ask the question if you're not prepared for the answer. :p

I wasn't trying to crush nuts, just giving my honest perspective.

Would it be better to give somebody a false reassurance, just cause you thought it would be easier for them to handle, even though they would never get their item sold at their price?
