Mind sharing where you got the stock from???

It is a Boyds Devcon bedded, Timney trigger, Ebay replacement knob, EGW base, Burris Zee rings and a 4.5-14x Minox with SF.. Maybe soon to have a Pac-Nor 8 twist barrel.. This is gonna be my boys first gun when he is old enough..

The Boyds came with trigger gaurd, steel V Block pillars and a cheap plastic thing where the front action screw mounts for the magazine to trip on.. It required fitting for magazine to function and the pillars needed bedded + the stock couldn't go without bedding because of the fit was horrible.. Worth the money if you like to tinker..$159 shipped

Ray,

That's a good looking rifle and stock for the money.

With the advent of the remage barrels I'd have to ask myself if the Ruger American action will provide a more accurate rifle than a R700 action. Wouldn't a guy be spending about the same money for barrel, trigger, stock for either one. Of coarse building a Ruger American would be a fun project and something different. I saw them for 380 today. Will probably have to try one before long

Thanks for the info, I just got an American in 223 for a carry gun to do some g hog and yote hunting and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I've read lots of good things and some bad things about 'em, so I've just got to get it zeroed and see how I like what I got, and go from there. It's good to know there is aftermarket stuff available to help if it turns out to be a less than accurate rifle.

Ray go with the pac-nor. That's what I got and I really do like it.It shoots great and is very easy to clean.I have often wondered why you don't hear of people competing with them.

I had no accuracy issues, It shot as well or better then most factory guns.. I hated the Tupperware stock that surely wasn't free floated like advertised.. Bolt knob, I like a removable knob that can be changed out to fit the users tastes.. I like clean light triggers so when Timney came out with theirs I upgraded.. After all that, I may as well upgrade the barrel right? LOL

Yes sir and they did a great job.If you want I can try to post some better pics. It was kinda high priced though $597 I think it was but I do like it.

Yes sir I did it all myself there is not a good gunsmith anywhere near me so I have been doing more and more of my own work. The barrel nut sucks I burred mine up a little but I am going to get a new one from PT&G. It is just like the Savage ones.

Same thread as the Savage? I was thinking of building a barrel vise that fit the nut securely and trying that..
