Lions don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
Elsewhere on the forum, last night I got called a spineless wimp (not worded nearly so nicely) for living in California. The guy was a bit mad that I chose not to argue with him on the internet, imagine that, but the well crafted and well rehearsed insults were centered around my state of residence.

California government sucks. And it is getting worse. No doubt about it.

The liberals in LA and SF carry the state in every election. My vote hasn't counted since Reagan. It sucks.

So gun owners in other states feel like the way to get back at the liberals is to attack gun owners and enthusiasts in California. I see people selling things in the forums "no sales to CA" when it is no more difficult for them to sell to CA than any other place. My FFL will accept a gun shipped to him with just a copy of your drivers license. I hear you can really get in trouble selling guns to DC or NYC.

Geographically, most of CA is conservative republican. We do all the things you do in your state except we have to jump through hoops. I've paid for the same background check xx times (redacted). I have 10 round magazines. I can't have a suppressor. I have to have a bullet button on my AR unless I go "featureless". But I still have fun and can't wait for the next varmint silhouette match at Pala.

I'd love to be living in MO closer to my family right now. But I moved to CA in 1982 and started a family of my own. I have 2 kids now still in school. Once they're out I could consider moving. And I have. But I have 50,000 lbs of tooling in my garage and my kids want to come back to the home they grew up in when they're in college so it's likely not gonna happen unless things get unbearable here. Right now, I've jumped through all the hoops and can do anything i really want to do when it comes to firearms.

Don't think that a gun enthusiast that lives in CA is a liberal nut like the SF and LA idiots who make the headlines. We have to put up with them every day and we need all the support we can get.

thanks,
Jerry

Don't worry about what people think or say, as long as you know in your heart-of-hearts that what they are saying has no validity. Sometimes we can't see the forest because there are so many trees in the way. BUT if you KNOW IN YOUR KNOWER you are not what the guys says, forget him! Besides, someone who derides someone over where they live has some BIGGER issues than you may want to know.. So don't let "less than stellar" people get at you one iota!

Carlsbad,
I have to fess up, I used to think of CA residents in terms of what SF & LA had to offer. Then I had a cousin move out to the northern/normal half. He came from a conservative farm family, so I asked how he could stand it there. His response really surprised me. "They're just like us", conservative, hard working, 2nd amendment supporters, farm communities. Not at all like the socialist southern half.

I stand corrected & no longer lump those in CA all together.

There are more red necks in calif then you think get out of L.A. AND S.F.and it's mostly farm land drive from L.A.to S.F.inland route and it's all farm land

I live in northeastern California, just an hours drive from Reno, Nevada. Nice country, lots
of area to hunt and fish, or just enjoy the out doors. Having to go through a back ground
check to purchase a firearm is no big deal to me, as I have nothing to hide. People that won't
sell firearms to California are the ones with the problems. All FFL holders that I deal with
have no problem accepting firearms from out of state sales, as long as theirs a copy of their
drivers license provided. There are many other states that I would not want to live in.

Just be happy where youre at then move if it gets unbearable. I know most people that move from cali with their cost of living if they own a house are so much better off they retire. Not sure about your part

As long as the Libs keep handing out free stuff this state will stay in their hands. The lead ban is a pain and the whole California Condor(sounds grand but it's a vulture) scam was based on junk science. Soon we have to use non lead shot for all shotgun hunting. I like to use a .410 so that's probably not going to work anymore. I really do wish the northern half of the state would succeed. We have one of the biggest economies yet somehow the state is broke and has to raise taxes again every year. There are a lot of handguns that aren't allowed here because they aren't an the DOJ approved list. Each color/finish of a model has to pass the tests so a stainless finish may be ok but the blue is not approved. Kind of dumb.

I would say it is somewhat similar to NY State. The state is completely controlled by NYC. The state itself is largely rural way beyond what most folks think (Adirondack State Park is larger than Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier, and Grand Canyon National parks COMBINED!). The only edge is that the 62 counties that comprise NYS are quite powerful individually when it comes to laws governing firearms. The governors SAFE ACT does not get much support by the county sheriffs and is a never ending battle.

The wretched liberals in CA (and pretty much everywhere else) are predominantly localized in urban areas on the coast. If you get very far inland, CA residents are actually a pretty conservative bunch. Unfortunately, they are largely outnumbered by the concentrated swarms of liberal locusts. Regardless of whom is running the show in this state, I can tell you that I have never seen a higher level of gun ownership and enthusiasm out here than there is now, at least in the San Diego area. Carlsbad, the simple fact that you're a participant and contributor here should give others a pretty good idea of where you stand. If someone doesn't get that, let it be their problem, not yours.

Jerry,
For what it's worth, you ain't the Lone Ranger. I've lived in California since my parents moved here in 1962, except while I was overseas in the military serving my country. I've been here for 50 years now and NO WAY is it anywhere near the state it once was. And like it or not, we own IDIOTS like Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein. And most folks don't realize these MORONS and other liberals like them, all come from the same area, San Francisco. And they were around and the product of the "Flower Children" scene, hence they undoubtedly smoked way too much weed and phencylideen. And like it or not, we also had some great American heros like Roy Rogers (whose house I still drive bye almost daily) and even were led by Ronald Reagan. I like you, I am financially/family strapped to CA and nobody else pays my bills or supports me. SO no matter what others may say (and some of their dialogue may be correct), I ain't no "whimp" and would be happy to compare my military service and following community service to any of them. So simply, fxxk 'em if they think their so much better. We do pay a price that others in other states don't. But also, liberals have screwed over our entire great country and brought everyone that POS that resides in the White House. SO live your life, shoot your guns and enjoy life as much as you can. And never forget, there are many many others who share your thoughts and just hope that liberals become an extinct disease in the near future.
