Kelbly or Borden

Which would you choose thinking about a new build will be a 6BR variant BRDX- Dasher-BRX
For heavy bullets 105 to 108, I like the longer neck on the BRDX:rolleyes:
This would be for Benchrest-600 yard.

Yeah I already have two Bats and a Raven Leonard Baity made for me just like to try some thing different.
I understand completely! I am constantly being "bit" by the "I want something different" bug.. One of the BEST moves I made was to get 2 of the Pierce Short Actions. Smooth as silk, Remington clone, easy to get stocks for. I use one for a Dasher and one for a 6.5 x 47 Lapua. Perfect size for those cartridges. They are EXCELLENT actions for considerably less than a Kelbly or BAT.. I have 2 Kelbly's and a BAT too>>>so I know how excellent they are! Just some food for thought for you..

My choice came down to the same two so I checked out my brother-in-laws Stolle Teddy and then I went and visited Jimmy, who I've know, respected and competed with and against back in the day, we talked actions a length and the choice became quite clear to me so I built the gun pictured 11 months ago and I'm extremely happy with the choice.Smooth as silk, perfectly timed with the Bix N Andy trigger. I would have a hard time changing from what you already have. But if you want a change get the Borden and dont look back. When I started I wanted to get more than one type of action but after shooting my Borden I couldnt buy anything else.

I would do Borden also. I bought a Borden a few years back and Jim insisted the action have my trigger timed before it was shipped out. That convinced me he took pride in his product and cared about his customers. My next action will be a BRMXD.

I had the same decision, with the inclusion of the Marsh action. I'm waiting on a call from my smith telling me to come and pick up my Bordem Rimrock BR, McMillan MBR, 28" 7.5 twist Dasher with .269 neck and .135" freebore.

I do still have a hankering for a Marsh for short range BR, though.

You see more borden then kelby at 600 and dashers then any brx or brxd nothing wrong with any or the outher just my two cents.

not to hijack but if any of you guys are looking at Borden's...I have 10 in stock as of tonight. From BR to BRL, 5 BRMXD on order

b-dale,,,,,since you asked,,, I have shot Stolle actions since the 70's and have seen a lot of others come and go,but none ever better,,,,they are light allowing you to put the weight in a "big" scope and barrel that will help with accuracy,,,the recoil lug is Integral (no pinned blade type lug) the scope base is integral (no additional parts to purchase or come loose !!) and any competent gunsmith can chamber a bbl for it without the action beeing sent to him,,,(you dont loose your rifle for months at the shop) bbls will swap/interchange between actions without headspace issues,,,and if you ever become familiar with the Kelbly family orgizanation and their long history of service to the shooting community you will never have any question about where to buy/shop or deal,,,,Roger
PS,,,the Panda/Kodiak/Grizzly actions are smooth as silk also ,,especially with the static ejector which give you the choice of ejecting the spent round or leaving it in the action to be withdrawn manually,,,,pretty nice!!!

I am in familiar with both of the companies discussed in this thread. After looking at their websites they appear to be very similar. My personal interest is in a Rem700 clone for an elesio stock. I guess my question would be "what is the difference between the two companies?" For example, it was mentioned that Kelby can thread a barrel without sending in the action. Is that unique to Kelby?

Thanks for the education in actions.
