Finished my reloading desk

If you are going to start reloading I think you will need more than that lonely press.LOLLOLLOL Just joking.

“Do I have to take the wife shopping?”

YES!!! That.....and so much more! Realistically, I think you’d last a week before you delivered her back to me!:cool:o_O:rolleyes: She is a handful!

Joshb, may i live so long to learn to be tidy and organised. Great inspiration.
Your woodworking skill is awesome.
Time to crank out boolits!

Ps guys. Earlier mention of steel desk work bench. I have a dozen different ones. One to be wary of. Some have drawers on one side and a special shelf on the other side inside a door. This special shelf is made to hold the good old heavy mechanical typewriters. As such it is spring loaded to support said typewriter. Open door, reach in, pull gently, big heavy typewriter rises with minimum effort to desk height for the days work.
If you find one of these and there is no typewriter be cautious when you go yanking on that shelf. I didnt know what or how but when i unlatched it that shelf it went UP UNDER MY BOTTOM JAW with all the force of a flying typewriter. Eyeballs quit rolling after a minute.
My workin buddy laughed his ass off.

Josh,
That desk hold a lot of stuff and pretty well organized. The quality of you joinery is exceptional.

With the comment regarding still having other reloading boxes to unpack. I think you will need some more reloading furniture. ;)

1 problem.....
How in thee hell are you gonna open that upper right hand drawer.
Repeat after me

I was looking at 1st couple pictures thinking you had enough room to mount your powder thrower to the base....
Then I got to the last picture.
Nicely done!

Pillar bedding holes lined with the proper tubes. At least the holes will look like you planned them.

Josh nice bench, I like that the drawer sides are or at least appear to be full 3/4 hardwood. I wonder as to the thickness of the bottoms. But maybe they don't need to be 3/4 bottoms. You see when I buy Sierras I get the 500 count of 220 SKMs, add to that a 500 count of 7mm 180s and all the 338 300grain SMKs and all the burgers and a 3/4 bottom is mandatory. I must say that I have never seen anything you have ever built that was less the 110 percent. But that thing you mounted the press to with no finish and the burn marks on the side. Wife must have really been on your ass.

Nice job Josh looks very functional for you. Excellent craftsmen ship. Wish I could pull that off, I can build but I'm sure not a cabnet maker. If you thinking of lights dont forget to go LED.

Thanks. The whole desk is made from 1 inch oak. All the bottoms are glued and screwed 3/4 inch ply. This was MY last reloading desk. I brought my dove tail jig but didn’t have the time to use it. Yeah! My wife is on my ass. Someday I might find the time to replace the drawers with dovetail drawers. This will do for now.

All the kitchen cabinet drawers (unless they were huge) I used to make were 1/2 inch plywood sides and a 1/4 inch bottom in a dado. They will not hold all the weight of a bunch of bullets. Power, primers , cases yes but bullets no. I bought a dovetail jig a few years back but I don't know if its worth all the work and aggravation.

Josh, 1" Oak, that thing must weigh a ton. You could mount an industrial automated reloader on it.
