Zeiss Spotting Scope Mounting

I just acquired a used Zeiss spotting scope 85mm about 6 yrs old and green in color. It appears that I must used a 3/8 inch bolt to attach it to a tripod. All my tripods are 1/4 inch. Is this correct??? Thank you...Hank

Yes... and you can get adapters for it.

http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-088LBP-Adapter-4-Inch--8-Inch/dp/B001CZUSUE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1367070155&sr=8-3&keywords=1%2F4+to+3%2F8+camera+adapter

The second one is better (but more expensive) and worth the difference in price.

Thank you very much for the reply. I guess I'm not losing my mind. Someday I might learn why everyone else uses 1/4in. and Zeiss uses 3/8in.
Thanks again...Hank

Actually, most high grade "large" cameras and optical stuff uses 3/8th... cuz 1/4 can break off or pull out. Many have both. My Pentax 80-ED has both.
