Zeiss Conquest V4!

Hello everyone,

I’m from South America, where it is almost impossible to find any good scopes and the market is flooded with cheap Bushnell’s. I have been looking at the V4, NF SHV and somewhat also at the new Razor LHT 4.5-22. Out of these the V4 seemed to have the best glass and is almost as light as the Razor. I also have never been really fond of the FFP because I often shoot at closer distances as well. I am looking to buy two 4-16x44 on my CZ527 and Model 70 .308 and one 6-24x50 on my long range hunting rig .270 x bolt ss. I have very little experience with all of these optics other than the entry level Vortex and Leuopold scopes, which have been on my rifles for 5 years and done 200k miles in my pickup truck and held 0 without any problems. Will I be able to get the same experience with these Zeiss scopes? Or what have been your experiences with these models? I would appreciate any and all help I can get because I can’t get my hands on the scopes to look through them and have been studying online as much as I can.

Thanks,
Julian.

I have not been very impressed with any of the new Zeiss glass. Ever since Meopta stopped making glass for Zeiss it’s gone downhill with their optics in my opinion. Just always seems to be a better quality option from a different manufacturer in the same price points that various Zeiss optics are found.

Thank you for the inout. What would be your scope of choice in fhe same price range? I started out looking st $500 scopes and I keep going up the ladder, pay a little more and you get a little more. Have you had any issues with tracking on the Zeiss?

I have 2 new V 4's (3-12), and as usual...they are spectacular. I also have a pair of V 6's, and the glass is considerably brighter than my NXS's. I...along with my LR shooting buddies, are Nightforce snobs...but everybody loves the brighter glass, and sharper picture of the new Zeiss 'scopes.

You won't go wrong with them!

I purchased a new 6x24 V4 to replace an older 6.5x20 Conquest MC, the V4 was never mounted. It was not only not as bright in low light, (most any scope is bright in full sun), but it did not have the crisp clear image of the MC. This might have just been this particular scope, but I was not impressed in the glass.

Saying that, one thing Zeiss is well known for is their reliability, repeatability and superb tracking.

I had to send back my MC 6.5-20x50 that parallax gave up and was sent a V4 in it's place. Zeiss does have a great warranty so no complaints here. I have to say the Zeiss V4 is a good looking scope with nice turrets but not as nice as the previous HD5 in glass quality. I have numerous MC's and HD5's and the glass is far superior to the new V4. I also run Meopta scopes and find their glass to be superior to the V4. I will have to step up to the V6 if I ever purchase another Zeiss. I guess I am used to that Schott glass! I am not bashing Zeiss as I have many of their scopes but the lower priced V4 is not what we have all come to expect from Zeiss glass. The V4 has come off my rifle and was replaced with a Meopta. The V4 will be sold.
