YouTube videos on precision reloading?

As I get further along into precision reloading, I am wondering if there are any trusted you tubers to present accurate and efficient information on precision reloading topics.

I am a very concise and attentive reloader now, trained as a metrologist, so being able to measure and quantify/qualify is something I am familiar with. Just looking for some videos to go over various aspects of precision ammo loading topics to help broaden my understanding of its value/time ratio per operation and always add to my mental library. Looking for beyond the basic sort, measure, buy tools stuff. I can already sort bullets/brass as well as weigh charges to .xx grain.

I havent found one video series i like about precision reloading. Everyone has many different ways to do it.

However there are some good videos for specific tools for the trade.

I am still a newbie, only been reloading for around 3 - 4 years now, but started reloading for better ammo and not trying to save money. First time I shot a sub .1 group I was hooked and was looking for ways to make rounds as close to perfect as possible. It is like being a heroin addict, except in today's society we are looked down upon (damn "gun nuts").

To gain knowledge I have either read through conversations and then research equipment that was discussed or watched videos/pictures of benchrest shooters and researched the equipment that I saw in the setups. I would love to find a series on this topic as well, but like sniper338 said, everyone does it differently.

I think one of the things that helped me the most was getting good dies. I was shocked at the amount of variance in seating depth when using the run of the mill Lee dies I bought when I first started. Having a good set of dies with micrometers made a huge difference in my average groups sizes.

Anywho, good luck with your endeavor. If you do find something useful please share as I am always looking to learn more of advanced techniques.

There is a LOT of good information out there if you're chasing precision and trying to learn how to find Nirvana, but not much of it is to be found on YouTube. I hate trying to watch 3 minutes of some guy who starts with "How ya' dooooin'" and then goes on to explain why his cat is knocking over his camera.

I find that the printed word is more likely to give you the information you're searching for.

Here is an interesting article on making a .223 shoot well. Check out page 35.

I just finished reading Bryan Litz's new book Modern Advancements in Long Range Shooting: Volume II . It is full of good information, especially about sorting. As you say, you already know about sorting but the question we all have is not how to do it, but how much does it matter. Mr. Litz has actually scientifically tested this kind of stuff so you can decide if you should spend more time annealing your case necks or measuring your primer pocket wear. ;)

Few sources for you not all videos

- If possible find a mentor in your area who is an accomplished precision shooter. Ask them if they will work with you/provide advise/etc

- Go to matches and shoot, watch and learn. Pay attention to the folks who consistently shoot small and/or high scores. Ask them questions. I do this often and have never gotten a piss off attitude from a fellow shooter

- Spend a good bit of time reading on this site. There are members who are dedicated and accomplished precision shooters and who are very generous in sharing their experience and knowledge. I wont name them since my opinion may differ from others. You will figure it out relatively quick

- Tony Boyer's book, The Book of Rifle Accuracy is a must have as well as Brian Litz's books

- One contributor on this site, Erik Cortina does have some videos that are very valuable. Link:

- Jack Neary also has some great videos. Link:

Good luck and good shooting.

Thanks for the info. I do read, a lot. Here and other places. I shoot at least one match a month now and I am getting podium finishes, have good mentors for reloading advice with the basic to moderate level stuff, but when I talk about things like tuning my load for optimum pressure levels with the dwell time (D.I. gas gun) they just don't seem to grasp the physics behind that. My local gunsmith is a former world record holder as well and is a great source for technique, but he's a terrible teacher, lol.

I do agree, it's less about the order of operations and more about qualifying your efforts on paper. Looking for information that correlates practices with results.

Will be building my library soon.

Fwiw, I don't shoot BR mainly prone matches either sling or bipod, groups in the .2 are rare.

Larry you should be making a video yourself. Who knows you could become famous. Beside I want all your secrets.

Had a great conversation with Boyd Allen today with some very helpful information. Luckily, I was able to give him some helpful information as well.

I have some new thinking points as I dove further into this, as well as some new equipment to buy soon.

I do appreciate any and all information, in any format, that people recommend here. Research is something I am very good at, and patience is a strong point for me as well, I will read anything and everything before making a decision.

Cheers!

I don't care to be famous . The pleasure I get from helping others and the thanks after is what life is about.
. I don't have any secrets . Any time someone want to find my feelings all they have to do is ask . Larry

I appreciate the ecouragement. I do plan to stay in touch with him once I get my new rifle going. I have some stuff I need to buy as well as a few things to finish on the rifle first, but he gave me some great starting points to cover reloading for some of my other rifles too.

That's a good one, right there but sadly it's true.
