Your thoughts on new Remington 700

You would think that they would be aware of the issues that have deteriorated their reputation, and looked at ways to do away with those issues, they surely have to do something to make things to improve the image.
Do you think there is any production company left in the US that puts quality and craftsmanship first...no my friend...that was probably our grandfathers country..maybe our fathers..definitely not ours.
.look what Remington did with marlin..they knew damn well those rifles were sub-par did they give a hoot..nope
.remington thought....just ship it..well be out of business before we have to make repairs
..they literally stole what they could..then shut there doors..
I wouldn't expect anything but maybe Taurus, and Tasco quality out of Remington..save your money and spend it on ammo...at least they haven't mess that up ...yet..
Hahahaha...im sorry..im just sour at that company ..heck..I wouldn't even buy a bottle of rem oil..id rather use moble

Just to add,
Remington Ammunition (and accessories) is now owned by Vista Outdoors
Remington Firearms is now RemArms, LLC and is owned by a Venture capitol company known as Springhill Group, LLC.

This on the website has turned me off from ever owning a new Remington from now on. If they will not offer a written warranty, they have lost my support:

RemArms LLC has elected not to provide any written-warranty, either "limited" or "full", rather than to attempt to comply with the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Act and the regulations issued thereunder. There are certain implied warranties under state law with respect to sales of consumer goods. Firearms returned to RemArms for service will be evaluated to determine if services will be provided at a fee or free of charge.

New, to me, rifle today...a good pre-64 Win M70, an old Husky or Sako, I'd take a chance on current production Tikka's but NOT remington. JMO.

700 ADL crappy tupper ware stock.
FWIW, I had a .300 Win Mag BDL with a "tupperware" stock which was the most accurate (and repeatable) 3 shot out of box rifle I ever had.......and I've had ...........let's just say a bunch. I bedded it to a Boyd salt and pepper ADL ( ADL addict here) laminate and it shot just as well- sold it to a friend with the promise I get first chance if he decides to part with it.
By the way don't most manufacturers offer plastic stocks in their entry level line?

Best few hundred $ I've spent on a rifle was a NIB T3 6.5x55 SM. Super accurate, very smooth barrel inside that cleans up like a dream, relatively light and very handy. If they are still building them like that one (5-6 YAgo) they are worth every $ spent for one.

Maybe I’m just lucky I have a double hand full of Remington 700s of course all left handed the oldest was the last Christmas present from my pawpaw 1985 700BDL LH 7mm Remington Magnum. Shooting 175grn Federal Premium cartridges
Killed a few deer with that combination. Then started reloading in 1989 and found out that rifle liked 140 Nosler ballistic tips. And have have killed many many deer with that rifle and it will still shoot 1/2” at a hundred yards.
Have a 243 sps with the varmint barrel and it shoots 1/4 all day long at a hundred. Have several other that do the same thing in both the sps stocks and the BDL stocks. Have taken some out of sps and put them in BDL and they shoot and function just fine. Also have one of the LH 308s that came from the factory in the HS stock heavy barrel and it will flat shoot. Used it the first time I ever shot a match. Hell I was just tickled to hit the target at 400 yards LoL. But it kept everything inside a 2”circle.

Guess I just got lucky with mine and when I can find a LH one and can afford it and don’t already have one in that caliber I try to buy it.

The only thing I don’t like is when I called Remington before Christmas and asked about the new 700 in LH they said they have no plans to produce and LH rifles. If they ever do I will buy one though.

I have a Remington 700 SPS stainless in .223 that I tried to float the barrel on. The stock got all wonky and groups weren't really groups. Stuck an end flap from a box of 22 lr under the tip of the forearm and it shoots 1/2 moa all day long. Can't bring myself to put another stock on it but probably will at some point.

I haven't seen or handled the New Remington 700, so I don't know anything about it of if it's available around here...new laws on guns and buying them has become ridiculously problematic with respect to the constitution...but tbe courts don't seem to be interested in constitutionality of law if it benefits the narrative of the powerful.
Now that said seems like if I were to start building rifles today ...it would be brand new CNC equipment...and as accurate as any custom action made...perfectly true, in every respect...
Manufacturing isn't the same as the old days...CNC and robotics work while you sleep...to perfection, these days...no small shop could compete..if set up correctly. Cause they all run CNC machinery there should be no difference between the fit and finish of a factory rifle or a small shop rifle, if both have CNC equipment...It's all programed in the computer does the exact same fit and finish every time. The largest manufacturer can afford cost cutting expensive inspection equipment, robots, and auto bar feed.
So there are no bad threads or out of round or off center parts created...tolerences in a firearm action are easily met. You can machine hardened parts...no heat treatment warpage. Digital camera takes a picture of each part and compares it to the computer print, anything out shuts down the machine and a human contacted...the CNC machine detects dull or broken tools...and calls up another in the tool library...and noted on the computer console that a human needs to replace tool #19....and tool #29 has been entered into production, by the machine, as programed when #19 is dull or broken... it's diameter, length, flutes, radius, etc bar coded into the computer prior...and tbe CNC never stops production and rarely makes a mistake...(I have seen a few glitches) it knows where it's at and where it's going, checks its own progress...how long each tool has been running and if its getting dull or programed for change as I used to do...cutting tools are expendables, change them before they need it.
So if Remington wanted to they could make tbe perfect action every time. ..same as anyone else with a CNC... they could cut costs on stocks ...but manufacturing in metal...today, you get the quality you choose... The machine will do all the work...and I've seen some dismal quality in the Ruger rifles..
Ruger Precision?...not even close...burrs, cast parts, coarse machining marks, ill fitting plastics, etc... plastic bolt shroud stopped it from working and made it fire on closing the bolt with out touching the trigger....the replacement was worse than tbe existing one..fix it myself... there is no excuse for that kind of sub par quality in manufacturing...when you can machine millions of parts exactly the same with with tight tolerances and excellent finishes, with the CNC machinery more than 20 yrs ago...and today's CNC machines are even more high tech....it must be "a people problem." Want quality? Do it yourself...but it shouldn't be that way.

Back when, I heard that, Remington was going Broke, again,.. Pre Covid ( approx. 3 years, ago ).
I bought, a New Rem. 700 L-H, S A, SS from, Bruno's @ $550. and it, was / IS,.. very, Precise !
All I did was, a Tiny Bit of, Bolt Lug "Lapping" ( Wasn't really needed ) and a little deburring, as everything was, Machined nicely, well Polished and, Square !
Agree with Ray 123's Post above,.. Remington "could" make GREAT 700's again as they have, the CNC Machines / Tooling and, the Data needed, to make, really Good actions,.. IF, they wanted to !
My Criterion ( RemAge ) Barreled, 6 XC shoot's, One Hole groups, in the 2's and 3's with, most Bullets / Loads that, I've tried. Maybe, I got "Lucky" with, this Action, IDK.
I'd Bet that, Remington could Sell, a LOT of Actions IF, they had, a Sub $600.00 Price Tag ?
Shooting DISCLAIMER,. IF/ when,.. I "do" my, Part !

Remington will not survive.

I have a feeling that many others are not going to survive this either. Of course, I think that is the idea.

As to remarms warrantee, this is the same as it always was, only they are being honest about it. You send in a rifle and they send it back and say its fixed and they never touched it, or they say it meets our accuracy requirements of being able to hit a paper plate a 7 yds. The only thing you can do is look at new rifles and decide if they as a group preform as well as you are looking for. As for my experience they could release some parts for older products but refuse. My daughter has a 12 gauge 870 that needs an ejector but they say "If we let out our parts we will make less sellable products." Keep the ejector guy on overtime for a couple of afternoons double the regular price of $9 and build some good will. People ask me what to buy in a new rifle? Tika, could I say look at Remington? Yes but when they have no responsablity to older owners and products I can't in good faith.

My son in law brought his new Rem 700 SPS in 30-06 over today to sight in. I looked the rifle over pretty well and thought it was well put together. Checked the trigger pull and was surprised to see it break just a fuzz under 3 1/2 lbs with just a minor variance between pulls. Cleaned the barrel and proceeded to sight in. After a 5 rounds cleaning after each and adjusting the rifle shot a good solid 1" triangular shaped group. Made a final adjustment and I finally shot it. Only shot 2 rounds but they landed 1/2" apart.
After shooting and examining the rifle I wouldnt be scared to buy one. I also forgot how much an 06 in a hunting weight rifle kicked. Makes me appreciate my little Roberts and 280 Rem. even more.

Lots of folks are pulling for Remington, the new Remington, but they have a steep hill to climb imo. They can't live or survive on a name. I've never been a fan of Remington rifles, but I wish them the best of luck in putting Remington back in the rifle production game.

I have had many 700 rifles on of the best rifles out there always accurate all manufacturers put out a bad rifle now and then why bash remington I've shot rugers that were crap tikas look cheap also I have shot howas also they very accurate and were affordable now they are expensive no cheaper then remington
