your seating depth for 108's

I wanted to get a cross section of what people are using for seating depth on your 108 BT Bergers in the Lil 6BR

Here is what I would like to hear

1. Powder
2. seating depth in relation to the lands
3. Freebore of your chamber if you have it.
4. Type of rifle , Hunting, benchrest, Prone, Fclass/ tactical)

I got a box to test. I hope they shoot as well as the 105 VLD's,that will be atall order to fill in my opinion).

Seats the 108 touching the lands with the boattail junction at the neck shoulder junction. I think it was chambered for the 107gr SMK which has about the same bearing surface as the 108
Lapua brass
CCI450's
VV N540
I shot a ladder three shots each:
29.8
30.0
30.2
30.4
30.6

Temps in the mid-80's

Sweet spot was in the middle less than .5 inches of vertical at 200 yards

In my testing, the 108 has been slightly more accurate that the 105VLD but I haven't tested the 108 beyond 300 yards. The 105s shoot great vertical out to 1000 with similar loads.

What sort of velocity did you find at the 'Sweet Spot'?

The Shooting Chrony read 2938 and 2956 for the middle groups which I don't believe. The range where I shot that ladder has overhead baffles with changing shadows, and I have had some of the strangest Chrony readings there, all on the high side of reality. Something in the 2880-2900fps range is probably about right. The barrel had about 1000 rounds through it. It is the last testing I did with that barrel before I put a 284 on the gun. The gun is set up as a switch barrel, but I never got around to testing different seating depths with the 108.

Benchrest,.065 freebore, .272neck, cci-450, 1/8tw, rem700 trued, RL-15 30gr. & varget 30.3gr, berger 108 bt's jumped .030. I can't get any vld's to do as well, no matter what I try,except that I didn't try jumping more than .030, so I just shoot the berger 108's & 90bt's.
