XP 100 'ejector' removal?

Got a XP converted rifle that will throw brass to the next bench. Looks like the extractor area is built into the bolt face?
Can the "ejector rod" be removed and will the brass still extract? Not sure from looking at it if the ejector rod forces the brass over into the extractor area. Been there, done that?? Thanks. Mike.

The extractor extracts even without an ejector. Very few Benchrest rifles have an ejector.

If you want to eject but only want the empties to fall on your own bench, what you need to do is remove the ejector and shorten the spring under it. Take off a very little at a time. When you get it right, don't be tempted to take off "just a little more". You have to be careful when removing the ejector because of that heavy spring. It will go flying to who-knows-where if it gets loose. There are several scattered somewhere in my shop that I have never been able to find.

If you don't want to eject, just remove it completely or grind it down to where it's flush with the bolt face.

Thanks Ray. I'll remove it! The short case will still stay on the bolt face and the fact that it's a .221 makes it real easy to pick out.;)

I removed the ejector rod and the only problem is that the case wants to hang up in the ejector grove. Kinda hard to get the case off the bolt face sometimes. I'll reinstall it and work on shorting the spring tension and see if i can find a "happy medium". Thanks for the input. Mike.

Heavy spring? Was ready for that! Cut two coils off of it and reinstalled it. Still too strong! Cut another two coils off and now the cases kinda roll out of the chamber area and drop right next to the stock. Sure beats crawling around under the next bench trying to find them. Much mo betta!! :D Thanks. Mike.
