XP-100 Bolt Stop...

I want to install a bolt stop on an XP-100 that I have. I want lever style. PTG makes a Lawton style and a Surgeon style. Which one would be best?

This is an Anshutz. It is on my Mod 7 in 6.5X47Lapua

Before you install one, be sure that it will allow your bolt to come back far enough to eject a loaded round.
Not a good pic of my Grandson's Mod 600 in 6X47 Lapua.

Those look good Butch. Where do you buy the parts at?

The reason I asked bout the PTG ones...I need to order a few things from there and would like them ship with a reamer and bushings I had on order.

I just went to an Anshutz dealer. Find one close to you. I don't think PT&G has them. I just like the slim look. Dave probably has some others that will work.

Looks good 308Nate,
Could you do your drilling from underneath and not go through the top of the rear ring? Certainly not a criticism, just curious.

I think I will spot and drill from the bottom, but stop shy of coming out the top. Drill and tap the bottom half, not sure what thread size yet, and use a set screw turned down to make a pin to hold the lever and continue to the other side. Does anyone else do them this way?

I do them on a manual Bridgeport, but wouldn't it be easier to make a small change in the CNC program to leave a blind hole on top?

You need an endmill that is just a thou or 2 larger than the diameter of your choice of bolt release. To spot the underside, just a very small endmill and you center drill will need only a small flat to start.

butchlambert,
ya' that would be no problem, then you would just need to use a long pin to remove like on a Tikka. but I guess the hole never bothered me so don't know that I will change it, It allows for a positive and easy removal, eliminates the need to use a tap and make custom screws. I just use dowel pins, distort one end of the pin so it can't come out the top, drive it in and we're good to go.

Nate
p.s can't seem to get this video embedded, don't know what I'm doing wrong???

Nate,
You well know that doing them 1 at a time for your own project is much different than doing them for a living. I think I know what the youtube shows. I thjink videos will help you in selling your work.
