XP-100 Actions

Thinking on selling a couple of xp actions. What are they worth? Are the first year actions with a four digit serial number worth more?

My experience has been that they are worth about the same as a Rem 700, maybe a little more, $4-500.

Serial #s would have no effect on value, bolt face might. Fireball bolt face would have to be opened up for BR or PPC case head. Depending on action condition (galling of locking lugs etc. actions would probably bring $350-$450 stock and a little more for a trued action.

IIRC, the Fireball port is smaller than the one(s) on 35Rem, etc. which "could be" an issue if rebarreling a Fireball to 6.5X47 etc. since the OAL of that cartridge requires removing the bolt. DAMHIK.

I just checked my XPs, 2 fireballs, a 223, 7BR, a 35 Re. All have the same length loading port.

Mine too are also the same length, give or take a few .000.....
I do need to pull the bolt on the 338/284 loads tho !!!!!

OK, I did NOT compare my Fireball w/ the 35Rem. So that leaves the question, can the port be opened to allow a 47L loaded round removal or does the bolt stop need "shortening" ?

I have made a cut on the side of the receiver to allow a load round to be extracted, it's done a lot..

Unaltered factory original actions should sell for about $350.00. They use to be worth more because BR shooters wanted them to build BR guns. Now with custom actions available they are not so much a hot commodity.
To make a Br action out of a XP-100 it cost as much as buying a custom action from the get go. Now where they shine is that they are manufactured as a bolt action Pistol Action and can be modified into another pistol configuration. It is legal to make a pistol into a rifle, but illegal to make a rifle into a pistol.
Good luck with your sale.

Stock XP's in very good condition are selling for $450-$550 and barreled actions around $350, $400 with center trigger attached. At least that's around North Georgia. Buyers are mostly IHMSA shooters or pistol hunters.
