XLR industries stocks

Hello all,

My next project is in the works. It will be a Barnard S action, single shot, coupled with a Bartlein .308 med/heavy Palma conture barrel at 30" finished length. This rifle will be used for F-TR mid and longrange shooting.

The piece of the puzzle that I am lacking is a good stock. I was considering an Eliseo tube stock, however he does not make a stock that will fit the S action.

I contacted XLR Industries, and they informed me that they will make an inlet for their stock, provided I send them my action to template off of.

Has anyone had any experience with this company and how is the feel, quality, and value of these stocks? Do you feel this would be a good choice for a F-TR rifle?

Thank you for your input.

Just a thought,
Since the Barnard S action is a remington clone, wouldn't an Eliseo R1 chassis (single shot I believe) work?

Pretty much to only thing that is cloned about the S action is the screw spacing, front and rear. ;D
The action is much longer, has four action screws, one of which is used for a 'recoil dowel', and trigger position is off from a rem700.
Even for it to fit in a 700 stock a lot of work would be involved, and I have neither the tools or the know how to do it.

I wish it were that simple. Thanks for the thought though. :D

Heavies, I just ordered a standard Evolution chassis for a FTR build, its for a Remington 700 in 308 with a 28 inch barrel. I had Kyle at XLR make me a slightly longer forend for it as well. Their stocks are getting very positive reviews, not only for the ergonomics but their quality, lots of good reviews on Snipershide. Plus the weight is pretty decent.

Yes, that is what I have been seeing as well. :D

What length forend, 16"?? That is what I was thinking about as well.

I want to get one of these because I want to keep it more simple. I want to really cut down on the gear the I drag from yard line to yard line. No fancy bipod to setup, no heavy rear bag, etc.

Heavies, I went with a 16 inch forend, the standard options are 12 and 14 I believe. I opted for dbm bottom metal instead of the single shot just in case I need to sell it in the future.

Ohearchai,
Thank you. It'll be a sweet build, I'm sure. Hope you'll share it here when you are complete. I'll Ask Kyle about that longer fore end.

I have 4 weeks to wait for my xlr stock. Went with a 14in forend and the tacticol butt stock. That and a atlas bipod is my next baby.

Kyle, has built me an Evolution chassis for my LH Savage .223 (F/TR build). Excellent quality - only manufacturer who was willing to undertake the task (LH chassis). Running a 14" forend. DBM with AICS mags.
Would recommend their work.

Heavies I will keep you informed, I am kinda concerned about making the weight and that the reason I went with the Standard buttstock instead of the heavier Xtreme. From everything that I have heard Kyle makes an excellent product.

Thanks guys! I think I'm gonna run this chassis.

I'll contact Kyle as soon as I get a chance. Been working like a dog lately! ;)
