The scoring plug rule was always dumb. I get the intent, but it’s just not practical given the nature of paper targets. It would be much less confusing if you simply required and unmolested hole to touch the ring. Sure, the .30s have a slight advantage over the .22s. But the size of the bullet is the least of those.

In the first photo it's a 10. The second one, if that was how the shot broke through, I'd question it. If I ever have to question it, I give it to the shooter. I would have scored the second photo an X.

This was my target and there were three referees. The scoring device was not present but two of three of the referees said it was a nine. So that it what it was. I thought that it was a ten then and I believe it now. Oh well, that it is water under the bridge. James

when I'm scoring I use the three second rule...if it takes me more than 3 seconds to decide, the shooter gets the higher score

I’m with you on the “can’t decide” then it’s in... if there is even a trace of flat paper then it’s out, otherwise roll on! I know the price of a major delay can be a real 9 or 8 so I have never contested the score, but have asked for a re-disc occasionally. If it comes back up the same or a miss then I go to the next shot. Keep your score keeper aware and it’s the fastest way to get a correction without a long delay.

As an occasional line officer, I get tickled when I get asked for a re-disk on a target.

If the shot value is truly in error and the scorer and shooter can see it and agree, just make the correct score on the score card.

If the re-disk is for value in question it's not a re-disk, it's a challenge and should be so treated. This has led to more than 1 strong conversations on the line though.

I'd have to examine it in person but I'm pretty sure it's an x.
Bullet holes always have the carbon ring that Is used as the measuring point, not the actual hole.
The carbon ring is clearly touching the edge of the x ring,,, you just have to angle your phone flat like your looking at the radius of the white x ring and you will see it.

Really the question should be is it a 6 or a X Do your rules mandate that you use a marker of a certain diameter. Like the international rules would be that a marker peg of 7.82 mm be placed in the hole to determine the position. Even though only a 7.62 mm bullet is fired
