X-Mark Pro

what do you hombres think about the rem x mark trigger. Do you think its comparable to a jewel or basix for long range target and hunting purposes? thks

When the 'box' gets full enough, I send them to Gun Parts Corp. and accept whatever they offer me for them!

I've had good results with the early X Mark Pro's when they first came out, the last 2 rifles I had with them I pulled them. Now let me say you don't mention these Rem factory triggers in the same sentence with a Jewel, 2 different animals.

thanks guys, i have a jewell on my .308 which i love

I have a rifle almost completed and a x mark trigger I havent mounted yet. I broke the bank with this rifle so Im gonna have to use the x mark for awhile. To bad Ive tried the jewell, this trigger might be hard to get used to.

Own three rifles with Rem X-mark triggers.

SPS stainless in 25-06 and SPS blued in .270 WSM have slight creep in the triggers that I have never been able to eliminate. But they are great hunting rifles, both very accurate.

Most accurate is a VSSF .220 Swift that has an excellent trigger. That barrel is shot out and has been rebarreled with a Shilen Special Match chambered in 6.5x57AI. That will be my long range F Class rifle this Summer.

Also have a Basix trigger on an 8 twist .223 barrel on a 722 action. At this point in time I cannot see much difference between the Basix and the VSSF X-mark. Use on the Army ranges this Summer may show a difference.

Maybe I was just lucky with the VSSF X-mark.

I have one on a VSSF; the older style that is not externally adjustable. It breaks like glass, but it takes a 5 lb pull to do so. Zero creep. Following instructions off the Internet I got the pull down much lower, but then it would go off when the safety was clicked off. I tweaked the three screws but I never could get it to be safe so I gave up. I turned all the screws back to where they were, so I'm back to a safe 5 lb pull. (I'm sure it can be done, I just didn't have the patience or skills to do it.)

I often take this gun to the range when I take my target rifle with a 2 oz trigger. Talk about having to make adjustments when I go from one gun to the other.

soon as i get it mounted Ill try the screw on the trigger first, then if I need too the screw above the trigger. Its gonna be a hunting rifle so it has to be 100% positive safety. If it doesnt work then ill try a basix i think. thks

The X Mark Pro is an excellent varmint / hunting trigger although it is not as adjustable as advertised, this trigger requires some work by a competant Gunsmith to get down to 2.5 lbs and remain safe. Inexperienced persons should not attempt to do a trigger job or adjust this trigger.
No Remington trigger will ever compare to a Jewel for wieght of pull, the X Mark Pro trigger will not fail if you blank a primer as will the Jewel and Jewel rightly so will not warranty thier trigger against this sort of damage.
I wont offer an opinion on the Rifle Basix triggers
I have a standing offer of $30.00 each for take off X Mark Pro triggers that have not been adjusted or damaged.

To compare a Jewel trigger to an X-Mark Pro is like comparing a broken down/beater 1982 Honda to a 2011 Z06
Corvette. They are both cars, however one of them is clearly better. The one I had I removed in favor of the old adjusted stainless BDL trigger which is an '83 Honda. You choose.

The jewel is a king in trigger design no doubt as i AM A FAITHFUL FOLLOWER however I have been able to bring the trigger down to 1# safely and there is no creep and it is crisp. It is actually a nice factory trigger. The only thing you can fool with is poundage on the one I had.I could not make it fire accidently by jarring it pretty hard.So in my opinion it isnt bad for a stocker.

The X Mark trigger group is the revised(idiot proof) system compared to OEM Rem std/ pre 2006 trigger groups.
Repeatability is a joke in the X Mark even if re-sprung.
I won't mess with the X Mark for the simple reason-I don't want MIM/sintered parts in my or a customers fire control sys.

The funny thing is my x-mark was fairly consistent and didnt vary more than an ounce or so.For occasional shooting ,that isnt that bad. What do you have against sintered metal? It is hard as glass usually and general motors makes connecting rods out of this type of this metal and they are stronger than the originals.

I screwed with many of them. But I got smart after the first couple to come to my conclusion. It did not take me a couple of hundred as you are saying!!!!!!!!!!

checking other forums the verdict is 50/50, much like this one.

I wonder if they're like the newer 700's, 50/50 if u get a lemon or a shooter.

I have a new build that needs a trigger so it cant hurt to try the X mark I suppose.

here is a link that shows a broke trigger x-mark

The design does seem weak. Since the screw doesnt hold anything in, and only compresses a spring if you want it to. I wonder what I could fill that hole with to strengthen the trigger. Some type of bedding or Jb compound?

thks for your opinions
