175 SMK for oryx

what do you hombres think, I know what sierra says, but have any of you used it for elk or oryx. Did you recover a bullet

thats what Ill be shooting all summer, Id love to be able to stick with the 175 smk

At what distance and velocity do expect to be shooting the oryx?

I have shot deer with several SMK bullets and all performed well. None of them dropped right there, unless I hit major bone. I have heard of a few people that had a straight pass through with little tissue damage using some of the SMK's also.I think that they are not always predictable. I would suggest the 180 Nosler AB or the Hornady interlock as a better choice.

I know Shawn Carlock (Defensive Edge) uses the 300 gr. SMK's in his 338 Edge to take game out to 2000+ yards with great results. Never used them myself though, so I don't have any first hand experience.

im thinking 400 yds max, muzzle velocity is 2650, velocity at 400 is appox 2100fps
